The rain is easing slightly. And Kovalainen moves up to fifth late on! The gang of drivers in the pit lane look on nervously…

Heikki Kovalainen, Daniel Ricciardo and Pastor Maldonado clearly don’t feel safe in 14th, 15th and 16th respectively and have gone back out to respond to any late change in the standings.

Unsurprisingly, all of the top 16 drivers are sheltering in the garage with half of the bottom six - Gutierrez, Bianchi and Chilton - attempting a run of laps to displace them.

Esteban Gutierrez is really fighting his Sauber on the slippery Interlagos tarmac. His front end really resists turning during the twisty middle sector and, with him currently sitting 19th, it looks as though his Saturday will be a short one.

Lewis Hamilton declared his distaste for the Brazilian rain yesterday but he appears to be thriving in the conditions. His 1:25.342 is still the quickest. The rain continues to fall, so perhaps we have our standings for Q1 already?

We’re having a few technical difficulties, but will press on and hope it’s a temporary glitch. The bottom five with 11 minutes remaining: Vergne, Pic, Gutierrez , Van der Garde, Bianchi, Chilton.

Hamilton posts a second lap time but can't improve. As it stands: 1) Hamilton, 2) Vettel, 3) Rosberg. All drivers have posted a time, with Max Chilton occupying bottom spot.

Aside from the weather, focus will undoubtedly be on Mark Webber as he makes his final Saturday appearance in an F1 car. Can the Aussie muster up something special to put himself in prime position to win his farewell Grand Prix?
