So Hamilton is quickest again with a 1:15.662 from Paul di Resta, Schumacher and Alonso. It could all change very quickly.

Although it’s not raining, the circuit is clearly still extremely slippery out there.

Michael Schumacher leapfrogs Alonso to go second fastest as Alonso has a very hairy moment, spinning 360 degrees over the grass at turn 8 but fortunately recovering before the barriers make a mess of his Ferrari.

Hamilton is back on top of the time sheets again. He seems to have that McLaren dialled in nicely today. Another off track excursion for Senna.

Sergio Perez gesticulates wildly to the Force India going slowly ahead of him as Schumacher clatters heavily over the kerbing.

Mark Webber now the second quickest man on the front but Alonso is going quicker again.

Fernando Alonso jumps to the top of the time sheets with a 1:16.240. Vettel is complaining that the rear super soft tyres are already going off. It is going to be very interesting for the race.

Pedro de la Rosa hit a mechanic in the pit lane this morning and we’re hearing he is okay. No broken bones.

The lap times are tumbling early on. Hamilton goes second quickest with a 1:16.750. Vettel also on the super soft compound.

Raikkonen is on the super softs and jumps to the top of the times. He is bettered by Rosberg on the soft tyres.

Kobayashi is currently at the top of the times, albeit a few seconds off Hamilton’s morning time.

There is still a threat of rain about, which is why there are so many cars out. But Christian Horner does not expect anything too severe.

Raikkonen and Grosjean are the first of the big hitters to take to the circuit.

We’re now hearing from McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh that Button may not start the session as the cars flood out onto the circuit.

We're underway again here. Red Bull, Mercedes and Lotus all tried out the super soft compound tyres in the morning, meaning they have a scrubbed set for the afternoon. But Ferrari and McLaren still have a new set of the super soft compound.

It’s also good news for Heikki Kovalainen after his big smash in FP1. Caterham have tweeted: "Been watching the boys fixing Heikki's car. It's just been fired up and should be ready for him to have a few laps in FP2. Incredible job."

Having been forced to sit out a large chunk of FP1, it’s good news for Jenson Button, whose oil leak has now been fixed.
