Good afternoon and welcome to LIVE coverage from the qualifying session of the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. Having set the quickest times in the first and second free practice sessions, Lewis Hamilton was ousted by is Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg in FP3, though the Brit will be looking to secure his fourth pole position of this season.

Oooooh, we have our first accident of the day and the red flag is out. Pastor Maldonado comes off the track on turn four, spinning out on the inside to collide with the wall. He completely decimates his front right-hand wheel - ripping it off his car.

Nico Hulkenberg sets the first timed lap of the day, clocking a 1:28.856. Gutierrez is just over half a second behind.

Gutierrez instantly locks up. He's struggling to get the downforce and only just avoids going into the gravel.

The pit lane is now open and it is Esteban Gutierrez who makes his way out on to the track first. Sergio Perez joins him shortly after. Lovely conditions in Barcelona.

The conditions in Barcelona are dry and bright - which will give Rosberg confidence going into Q1. The German secured his only pole position of the 2014 World Championships in these conditions, while his teammate Hamilton has proved quickest in the wet. How will this one go? We're due to find out in just a couple of minutes.
