Germany roar to luge sprint success thanks to Max Langenhan and Julia Taubitz's heroics in Winterberg

Langenhan and Taubitz sealed double gold in the singles as Wendl and Arlt backed-up their doubles luge success. But Latvia's women spoiled the German's fun with victoryin the sprint doubles.

German duo Max Langenhan and Julia Taubitz soared to a dazzling World Cup double with luge sprint victory in Winterberg.
Langenhan, 23, roared to victory in the men's singles yesterday and was back on top of the podium in the sprint discipline in a time of 36.161, with Austria's Jonas Mueller and Felix Loch of Germany completing the set.
Earlier in the day, Taubitz grabbed her second World Cup gold of the season on home soil with victory in the women's singles in a time of 1:51.683.
Taubitz held off teammate Anna Berreiter, who leapt from fourth to second in her final run to seal silver, while the USA's Emily Sweeney was close behind for third in a time of 1:52.038.

Austria's Hannah Prock, who was in the silver medal position after the first run, ended up in fifth following a crucial mistake that cost her a medal.
There was further home soil success in the men's doubles sprint as Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt backed up yesterday's success with gold.
The pair clinched victory by 0.003 seconds over compatriots Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken.
But it was Latvia who struck gold in the women's double sprint as Anda Upite and Sanija Ozolina spoilt the Germans’ fun with victory.
The duo finished in a time of 31.483 for their second World Cup gold of the season.
Italy took silver and bronze through Andrea Voetter and Marion Oberhofer and Nadia Falkensteiner and Annalena Huber in a podium shut out for the home nation.
