British Moto2 rider Jake Dixon has had time to reflect on his first lap crash at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone earlier this month, calling Darryn Binder an "absolute clown" for the controversial incident. Just under two weeks later, Dixon has apologised to the South African for his outburst. “My words were not on,” he told TNT Sports, where he also provided an update on his future.

'I did not do it in the correct way' - Dixon apologies to Binder, looks ahead to Austria GP

Jake Dixon has apologised to Darryn Binder after targeting the South African in a furious outburst following a crash during the first lap of the British Grand Prix.
Binder appeared to shunt Dixon from behind on the final corner of the opening lap, which forced the 27-year-old off the track where he luckily escaped injury.
In a “raging” outburst following the race, Dixon called Binder an “absolute clown” and claimed that he had “ruined everyone's Championship”.
"Sometimes I don't understand what this guy [Binder] is doing,” he told TNT Sports at the time. “He can clearly see that I am past him. Use your brain, I am faster than you! I am going to pull us forward.
"Don't ram me because you're going to listen to this, and you have ruined my Championship. You ruin everyone's Championship, mate.
"You are an absolute idiot. I'm absolutely raging because we put so much hard work in. I made a mistake yesterday, but he is just an absolute clown.
"I am sick to death of it, mate. When you are around people like him it is just… ban him! Ban him because it is stupid.”
Ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday, Dixon spoke to TNT Sports once more and reflected on his fiery rant - and issued an apology to Binder.
“Silverstone was not ideal,” he said. “And first of all I want to apologise to Darryn Binder for my words because they were not on, and I just did not do it in the correct way.
“I didn’t want to talk at the time, and I want to apologise to him and his team because I was outspoken on that and it was not good and it didn’t look good either. So, first of all, sorry on that.”
Silverstone is behind Dixon now, with his full focus on the Austrian GP on Sunday, where he managed a podium finish last year.
“It’s a track that I really enjoy, there’s not one track that I don’t really enjoy riding my bike this year,” he said. “The team is great, the bike is great and I’m really enjoying it. It’s a pleasure to ride and it’s a pleasure to work with the team.
“It’s just another day in the office. We try and work hard and smart over the weekend and see what we can do.”
Dixon is third in the drivers’ standings and the 2018 British Superbike Championship runner-up is confident he will pick up more points in the remaining races.
“Yeah, 100%. We’ve got 11 races to go, anything’s to play for. We need to just keep our heads down and see what happens basically because you can never know what’s going to happen in this championship.”
But who will Dixon be representing next year? He remained tight-lipped when asked what the latest on his future is, or whether he will be on the Moto GP circuit next year at all.
“Listen, it’s all rumours, isn’t it? It’s all silly season,” the current GasGas Aspar Team rider said. “I have no idea where I’m going, I have no idea what I’m doing.
“I’m currently a free agent, let’s see.”
