Lucia Dalmasso won an all-Italian final as Ramona Theresia Hofmeister's unbeaten start to the FIS Alpine Snowboard World Cup season came to an end in Scuol.
Hofmeister arrived at the first meeting of 2024, a parallel giant slalom, with three wins in as many races and recorded the fastest qualifying time but she came unstuck against Japan's Tsubaki Miki, who came home four-hundredths of a second clear in the round of 16.
Dalmasso, runner-up to Hofmeister in each of her past two outings, progressed comfortably through the knockout rounds and earned her first career World Cup gold following a fall for her compatriot Jasmin Coratti in the final.
Miki took bronze after defeating Austria's Claudia Riegler in the small final to earn her second podium finish of the season.
In the men's event, Benjamin Karl picked up his second victory of the season.
The Austrian, 38, beat Slovenia's Tim Mastnak in the final to maintain his position at the top of the overall standings, with Andreas Prommegger rounding off the podium places.
