Hello and welcome to LIVE updates of the latest chapter in one of the greatest rivalries in sporting history. It's 11-time champion Rafael Nadal against Roger Federer with the winner all set for a spot in the 2019 French Open final.

GAME, SET AND MATCH! - NADAL 6-3 6-4 6-2 FEDERER. Eleven-time champion Nadal beats Federer at RG for the sixth time as he serves out to 30 on his second match point to book a place in a whopping 12th final. The Spaniard ended a run of six matches (including walk-over) without a win against the Swiss with a dominant straight sets success in two hours and 25 minutes in gusty conditions. Nadal will now meet Djokovic or Thiem in Sunday's final.

NADAL 6-3 6-4 5-2 FEDERER. Rafa pulls the trigger on a stonking forehand return, but it's pretty much as good as it gets for him. Federer makes the hold to 30 despite a double fault, with a magnificent reaction volley at the net concluding matters.

Nadal will now serve for the match.

NADAL 6-3 6-4 5-1 FEDERER. Roger plays a couple of sumptuous drop shots and has a half chance at deuce, but he hooks two tired shots way off court and is one game away from another exit at the hands of the King of Clay.

BREAK! - NADAL 6-3 6-4 4-1 FEDERER. It's a double break and it's looking bleak for Federer now. The Swiss hooks a horrible backhand wide to cough up two break points. Nadal bombards him, but looks to have come a cropper at the net before finding a stunning forehand up the line when slightly off balance.

NADAL 6-3 6-4 3-1 FEDERER. Nadal nails an ace down the middle T to claim a tricky hold to 30. The Spaniard looked in complete control after winning a 27-shot rally with a crosscourt backhand to make 30-0. But Federer made it interesting when a hopeful lob off the backhand caught the wind and dropped in. Nadal then made a surprising error on the forehand into the net before getting back on track with a scorcher of a crosscourt backhand.

BREAK! - NADAL 6-3 6-4 2-1 FEDERER. Nadal gets a huge piece of luck with a return that clips the net and hits Federer. It comes on double break point too and secures him the game. He apologies, but inside he's leaping with joy.

Federer had a shocker there, missing a sitter at the net and bulldozing a forehand that was waiting to be thumped well wide.

NADAL 6-3 6-4 1-1 FEDERER. Nadal rampages through a love hold. All square early in Set 3.

NADAL 6-3 6-4 0-1 FEDERER. That's an important hold for Fed. He comes under fire from the Nadal forehand and finds himself 30-40 down. The Spaniard has the game -and the break - on his racket but slaps a forehand into the net. He holds his head in his hands, and rightly so. Federer rallies and takes advantage of the reprieve.

SET! - NADAL 6-3 6-4 FEDERER. The King of Clay is in control. He serves out a game to love to take a two-set lead.

BREAK! - NADAL 6-3 5-4 FEDERER. A huge fist pump from Nadal as he somehow digs out a break from 40-0 down. The Spaniard benefits from a couple of backhand errors from Fed and then crunches a stonking forehand winner to snare break point. The No.2 seed then comes out on top at the net and will now serve for a two-set lead.
