Jamie Murray will be the Tournament Director at next year's Queen's Club Championships. The 37-year old multiple grand slam double champion, says the opportunity gives him a chance to develop his "genuine interest" in the business side of events. It means he will not participate in the tournament as a player, but he has no plans to hang up his racquet just yet

British tennis star Jamie Murray says he is honoured to be named Tournament Director for the Queen's Club Championships.
The 37-year old replaces Brazilian Luiz Procopio Carvalho, who had held the post since 2021.
Murray, a seven-time grand slam doubles champion, has long shown an interest in what his post-playing career will look like.
He has previously helped organise events including the Murray Trophy last Battle of the Brits, and is keen to make the tournament as enjoyable as possible for participants and spectators alike.
"It's a real honour to be given this opportunity by the Lawn Tennis Association to work on such a prestigious and well-regarded tournament with the event team during the year, supporting the development and growth of the cinch Championships," he said.
"As most people know, I have a genuine interest in the events side of the business having started as a tournament director of the Murray Trophy and most recently organising Battle of the Brits in ensuring the best possible experience for the players and fans who attend."
The Queen's Club Championships take place from June 17 - 23 in 2024.
Murray, who won the doubles tournament alongside Bruno Soares in 2017, will not be participating, but has no plans to hang up his racquet just yet.
His appointment to the position follows in the footsteps of several other British tennis players taking on Tournament Director roles, including Laura Robson.
LTA Director of Digital and Events, Chris Pollard said: "Jamie has shown huge passion and aptitude for running tennis tournaments over the past few years.
"His knowledge of playing at the very highest level on the ATP Tour for almost two decades will help ensure the cinch Championships remains one of the most prestigious and highly-rated tournaments in the world.
"We believe it’s important to give British players the opportunity to develop their careers off-court as well as on, which is why we’re pleased that Jamie will be joining Laura Robson in that capacity.”
