BREAK! - DJOKOVIC 6-3 4-1 MONFILS. Gael finds some big serves to ease some pressure at 0-30 but then snaps a crosscourt attempt into the net to tee up another BP for Novak. The Serb merely needs to stay in the concluding rally as Monfils drags wide into the left-hand alley he is facing. It's a double break for Djoker who is a cut above when his temper/frustration doesn't cloud his judgement.

DJOKOVIC 6-3 3-1 MONFILS. Novak consolidates to 15 and a quick-fire victory here remains very much on the table for him.

BREAK! - DJOKOVIC 6-3 2-1 MONFILS. Nole has upped his game once more and Monfils' tactics - no matter how bizarre - get him nowhere. The two-time US Open champion breaks to love and is well in control now.

DJOKOVIC 6-3 1-1 MONFILS. Djoker's blood was probably boiling after that last point, but he responds superbly. A love hold is easily concluded with a delicious crosscourt lob.

DJOKOVIC 6-3 0-1 MONFILS. Gael somehow holds serve and has the crowd on their feet. At 30-40 it's looking bleak for the Frenchman but he is nothing if not brave, lashing down a huge second serve to make deuce. A serve and volley combo moves him ahead before a wonderful exchange at the net ends with the 10th seed getting extremely lucky with a net cord.

SET! - DJOKOVIC 6-3 MONFILS. Nole finally wraps up the set, but it was a very strange last 16 minutes or so. The Frenchman even has double break point to move within a game, but his 'casual' approach wears thin and Djoker recovers to get the job done from deuce.

DJOKOVIC 5-3 MONFILS. That scoreboard is looking far more respectable for Monfils.He serves out to 15 with relative ease. You'd still expect Novak to seal this shortly - but the screens are still on at the moment....

BREAK! - DJOKOVIC 5-2 MONFILS. Novak falls apart! The reigning champion cruises to three set points but gets distracted by Monfils' lack of engagement! The Serb wastes all three and offers up two BPs, succumbing on the second with a double fault. The world number one served three DFs in that match and seems to be complaining about the big screens in the stadium. Very odd.

DJOKOVIC 5-1 MONFILS. He's on the board! Monfils avoids the humiliation of a bagel, but cuts it quite fine! At set point down he recovers to deuce with an ace down the middle T. He then wins the rally of the match to spark the crowd into life before another big serve earns him the game.
