Djokovic was playing on, then hit a ball behind him and it's smacked into the linesperson's throat, who is hurt. The referee is out there on court. Is...is Djokovic going to get defaulted?! It wasn't intentionally struck at the linesperson, but it was certainly hit in anger.

Straightforward win for the fifth seed, with Davidovich Fokina suffering badly with a leg injury by the end of the match.
19:12 - Putintseva 6-3, 2-6, 3-0 Martic
Putintseva just ended a massive rally by meeting a lob with a one-handed backhand dropshot. I don't even know what to say about that. Amazing.
19:01 - Davidovich Fokina 2-6, 2-6 Zverev
The young Spaniard came out firing at the start of the second but the fifth seed clawed it back. Zverev has won five of his seven break points - and hit 23 winners.
18:51 - Putintseva 6-3, 2-6 Martic
Petra Martic breaks the Putintseva serve to finish this second set. The Kazakh had some treatment on what seemed to be her lower back.

Some epic service games in this match, and some brilliant saves of break point. Petra Martic gets the breakthrough this time, though, and the trainer is called to the court for Putintseva.

This hasn't taken very long so far, just 25 minutes. Zverev's first serve is making the difference.

Early break to fifth seed Zverev. I imagine he's just pleased to be able to get on court at a reasonable hour.

A little bit of a meal made of it, but a roaring Yulia Putintseva takes the first set against Petra Martic. The stats are actually pretty even for these two players so far. The second set will be fascinating.
17:39 - Brady 6-1, 6-4 Kerber
She had so much treatment from the trainer in between games, but she's lasted the distance - what a tremendous win taking her through to her first Grand Slam quarter-final.
"Wow. It feels great, I'm so happy," she said afterwards. "I played a spectacular first set...I just tried to focus on every single point. I was getting a little frustrated, I felt a little pain in my leg, but I just wanted to close it out in two sets."

And meanwhile, Grand Slam champions Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram are through to the semi-final of the men's doubles, beating McDonald and Eubanks 6-2, 7-6(5).

What's going on over on Ashe, I hear you ask? Why, just Yulia Putintseva 5-0 up against eighth seed Petra Martic.

Brady looks a little slow and tentative on the first two points but hits back massively under pressure.

Eight minutes later, Jen Brady is back with a big strapping high on her left thigh.

Jennifer Brady seems to be holding her left hamstring or possibly her thigh. She's going off court for some treatment, so perhaps it's her hip that's been diagnosed.

Three successive breaks of serve at the start of the second, with Brady responding to the break by breaking back to love.

Angelique Kerber has never won a match at the US Open from a set down. Brady serves this out with a massive amount of enthusiasm. Looking at the stats, Kerber has not won a single thing on her second serve. Nothing! At all!

This first set is absolutely running away from Kerber. Brady is picking her serve every single time and the German is offering no variety.

Oh, and don't forget that Britain still has representation in the men's doubles - first up on Court 17 are Grand Slam champions Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram against the American pair of McDonald and Eubanks. Who will reach the semi-finals?

On Louis Armstrong, we begin shortly with Jennifer Brady against Angelique Kerber, then Alejandro Davidovich Fokina against fifth seed Alexander Zverev, followed by Shelby Rogers against Petra Kvitova, which seems a fascinating match-up. The last match on that court is 27th seed Borna Coric against Jordan Thompson.
The action on Ashe starts in an hour, with Yulia Putintseva against Petra Martic in yet another clash of seeded players. They're followed by men's top seed Novak Djokovic against Pablo Carreno Busta, Denis Shapovalov against David Goffin, and then finally Naomi Osaka against Anett Kontaveit.

De Minaur lost eight games in a row from the second set onwards of his match against Khachanov, smashed his racket, and has used his press conference to apologise to anyone watching.
"first of all, I'd like to say, you know, kind of sorry to everyone out there watching. It's not the way I want to conduct myself on the tennis court, and it's not something that is normal for me, so I'm very disappointed in myself with the attitude I had."

"I don't know. My speed, I didn't make many unforced errors...not give her time," says Sakkari, when asked about why she thinks she did so well today.

Our colleagues at Eurosport Germany are reporting that Zverev v Mannarino has been rescheduled to not before 10pm BST. Reporters in the USA are suggesting it is down to "political issues".

Fabulous performance from Corentin Moutet to beat Dan Evans, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(5), 7-6(1).

He should have started his match against Adrian Mannarino - one of the Paire 11 - about 55 minutes ago. Instead, he's on the balcony overlooking Ashe, shirtless, playing on his phone. More news when we have it.

Dan Evans is livid and shouts, "Say something!" at the half-dozen people in the stands. He then swears. All on serve in the fourth.

And he didn't even mean to. He's 3-4 down in the fourth set against Evans, about to serve, and his racket flies out of his hand, crashing to the floor with the grip off at a very odd angle.
