Monday's action resumes at 4pm - join us for all the latest developments from Flushing Meadows as Serena Williams takes centre stage.

00:03 - Goodnight

But that's it from us for tonight on another dramatic day at the US Open. Join us again tomorrow! What on earth will Monday bring?

00:00 - Coric 5-5 Thompson

Looks like this one might be going the distance. Buckle up.

23:30 - Coric 3-2 Thompson

Borna Coric has the early break against Jordan Thompson. He is playing extremely well on his first serve.

23:10 - Next up tonight

Three more matches tonight - Borna Coric, the 27th seed, faces Jordan Thompson, the unseeded Australian, next on Armstrong. Then after midnight UK time on Ashe, it's Denis Shapovalov against David Goffin followed by Anett Kontaveit against Naomi Osaka.

22:56 - Kvitova out, Rogers through

What a day. Unseeded Shelby Rogers of the USA beats sixth seed Petra Kvitova 7-6(5), 3-6, 7-6(6) to reach the quarter-finals.

22:15 - The latest

No such thing as a quiet night in New York. Here's the latest on the Djokovic default.

21:50 - Rogers 7-6(5), 3-6 Kvitova

Going three on Armstrong! 20 winners for Kvitova, and seven unforced errors. Really stepping her game up.

21:37 - Rogers 7-6(5), 2-4 Kvitova

Ah yes, there's a tennis tournament still going on. I wonder how much of that they'll be aware of. Had there been crowds in, it would have been a terrifying prospect.

21:23 - Meanwhile, on Armstrong

Shelby Rogers won the first-set tie-break against Petra Kvitova 7-6(5).

21:18 - Got to feel sorry for Pablo Carreno Busta

He was 6-5 up having just broken Djokovic - hence the world number one's rage. He's been sitting around watching this unfold.

21:14 - Djokovic is OUT - defaulted

Incredible scenes. Pablo Carreno Busta is through, and we're going to have a brand-new men's Grand Slam champion.

21:05 - Chaos on Ashe

Djokovic was playing on, then hit a ball behind him and it's smacked into the linesperson's throat, who is hurt. The referee is out there on court. Is...is Djokovic going to get defaulted?! It wasn't intentionally struck at the linesperson, but it was certainly hit in anger.
Pablo Carreno Busta is still sitting down with his towel wrapped around him.

20:59 - Djokovic injured

Djokovic has a nasty fall and seems to hurt his arm as he tries to break his landing. Trainer is out for him.

20:47 - Rogers 4-5 Kvitova

And Petra Kvitova, the sixth seed, turns it right back round on her American opponent.

20:40 - Rogers 4-3 Kvitova

And as I type that, first break of the match goes to Shelby Rogers.

20:36 - All with serve

Cagey starts in both our singles matches now - both level at 3-3.

20:23 - Djokovic 2-1 Carreno Busta

The world number one is continuing his campaign for Grand Slam number 18.

20:15 - Monday's showcourt schedule is out

And the day session on Ashe begins with Maria Sakkari against Serena Williams - what a way to start a day.

20:05 - Kvitova up next

And this one is intriguing - Petra Kvitova against Shelby Rogers.

20:00 - Djokovic on court

The top seed is up next.

19:49 - Putintseva 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 Martic

What a brilliant match from both players, and a career-making performance from Putintseva, who absolutely hollers after she takes match point. She will play Jennifer Brady in the quarter-finals.

19:36 - Zverev 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 Davidovich Fokina

Straightforward win for the fifth seed, with Davidovich Fokina suffering badly with a leg injury by the end of the match.

19:12 - Putintseva 6-3, 2-6, 3-0 Martic

Putintseva just ended a massive rally by meeting a lob with a one-handed backhand dropshot. I don't even know what to say about that. Amazing.

19:01 - Davidovich Fokina 2-6, 2-6 Zverev

The young Spaniard came out firing at the start of the second but the fifth seed clawed it back. Zverev has won five of his seven break points - and hit 23 winners.

18:51 - Putintseva 6-3, 2-6 Martic

Petra Martic breaks the Putintseva serve to finish this second set. The Kazakh had some treatment on what seemed to be her lower back.

18:38 - Putintseva 6-3, 2-4 Martic

Some epic service games in this match, and some brilliant saves of break point. Petra Martic gets the breakthrough this time, though, and the trainer is called to the court for Putintseva.

18:25 - Davidovich Fokina 2-6 Zverev

This hasn't taken very long so far, just 25 minutes. Zverev's first serve is making the difference.

18:10 - Davidovich Fokina 1-2 Zverev

Early break to fifth seed Zverev. I imagine he's just pleased to be able to get on court at a reasonable hour.

17:54 - Putintseva 6-3 Martic

A little bit of a meal made of it, but a roaring Yulia Putintseva takes the first set against Petra Martic. The stats are actually pretty even for these two players so far. The second set will be fascinating.

17:39 - Brady 6-1, 6-4 Kerber

She had so much treatment from the trainer in between games, but she's lasted the distance - what a tremendous win taking her through to her first Grand Slam quarter-final.
"Wow. It feels great, I'm so happy," she said afterwards. "I played a spectacular first set...I just tried to focus on every single point. I was getting a little frustrated, I felt a little pain in my leg, but I just wanted to close it out in two sets."

17:35 - Semi-finals for Salisbury and Ram

And meanwhile, Grand Slam champions Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram are through to the semi-final of the men's doubles, beating McDonald and Eubanks 6-2, 7-6(5).

17:30 - Putintseva 5-0 Martic

What's going on over on Ashe, I hear you ask? Why, just Yulia Putintseva 5-0 up against eighth seed Petra Martic.

17:11 - Brady 6-1, 4-2 Kerber

Brady looks a little slow and tentative on the first two points but hits back massively under pressure.

17:06 - Brady's back

Eight minutes later, Jen Brady is back with a big strapping high on her left thigh.

16:58 - Trainer called for Brady

Jennifer Brady seems to be holding her left hamstring or possibly her thigh. She's going off court for some treatment, so perhaps it's her hip that's been diagnosed.

16:46 - Brady 6-1, 2-1 Kerber

Three successive breaks of serve at the start of the second, with Brady responding to the break by breaking back to love.

16:38 - Brady 6-1, 1-0 Kerber

And the American begins the second set with a break, using her forehand to magnificent effect, and Kerber cannot get near her.

16:33 - Eubanks/McDonald 2-5 Salisbury/Ram

Lovely stuff from the Australian Open champions, edging towards that first set.

16:32 - Brady 6-1 Kerber

Angelique Kerber has never won a match at the US Open from a set down. Brady serves this out with a massive amount of enthusiasm. Looking at the stats, Kerber has not won a single thing on her second serve. Nothing! At all!

16:29 - Brady 5-1 Kerber

This first set is absolutely running away from Kerber. Brady is picking her serve every single time and the German is offering no variety.

16:22 - Brady 3-1 Kerber

First break to Jenny Brady, and Kerber is going to have to think about her serve tactics now, the American is reading her far too easily.

16:15 - Joe Salisbury in action

Oh, and don't forget that Britain still has representation in the men's doubles - first up on Court 17 are Grand Slam champions Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram against the American pair of McDonald and Eubanks. Who will reach the semi-finals?

16:00 - Today's order of play

On Louis Armstrong, we begin shortly with Jennifer Brady against Angelique Kerber, then Alejandro Davidovich Fokina against fifth seed Alexander Zverev, followed by Shelby Rogers against Petra Kvitova, which seems a fascinating match-up. The last match on that court is 27th seed Borna Coric against Jordan Thompson.
The action on Ashe starts in an hour, with Yulia Putintseva against Petra Martic in yet another clash of seeded players. They're followed by men's top seed Novak Djokovic against Pablo Carreno Busta, Denis Shapovalov against David Goffin, and then finally Naomi Osaka against Anett Kontaveit.

15:30 - Ready for week two?

We're into the round of 16 now in New York after getting through the first week. There's plenty at stake - can Novak Djokovic continue his unbeaten season? Can Alex Zverev get into the last eight for the first time? Can Naomi Osaka stave off an upset in an intriguing meeting with Anett Kontaveit? Stay tuned for all the action!

00:00 - Goodnight!

That's it for today. Enjoy the rest of the evening session - and join us again from 4pm tomorrow.

23:50 - Azarenka 1-2 Swiatek

If you want to follow along with this match, you can, with our live scoring.

23:38 - Azarenka 0-1 Swiatek

Iga Swiatek breaks the Azarenka serve in the opening game.

23:30 - Handshake?

In case anyone is keeping track of possible further drama, Tiafoe and Fucsovics shook hands at the net.

23:20 - Azarenka v Swiatek next up

Next up on Louis Armstrong is Victoria Azarenka against Iga Swiatek. Ons Jabeur faces Sofia Kenin after that.
And of course from midnight BST there's the night session on Ashe, featuring Madison Keys against Alize Cornet and then Marin Cilic against Dominic Thiem.

23:15 - Fucsovics 2-6, 3-6, 2-6 Tiafoe

And it's a straight-sets win for Frances Tiafoe as well - a much more straightforward match than his two previous rounds (a five-setter against Millman, and four against Seppi). The Hungarian's run comes to an end following his great five-set win against 14th seed Grigor Dimitrov in the second round.

23:00 - Straight-sets win for Auger-Aliassime

This young man is very impressive indeed so far this week. He takes Corentin Moutet apart 6-1, 6-0, 6-4.

22:40 - Fucsovics 2-6, 6-3 Tiafoe

A two-set lead for Big Foe on Armstrong. Meanwhile, on Court 17, Auger-Aliassime has the break in the third against Moutet.

22:19 - De Minaur says sorry

De Minaur lost eight games in a row from the second set onwards of his match against Khachanov, smashed his racket, and has used his press conference to apologise to anyone watching.
"first of all, I'd like to say, you know, kind of sorry to everyone out there watching. It's not the way I want to conduct myself on the tennis court, and it's not something that is normal for me, so I'm very disappointed in myself with the attitude I had."

22:10 - Vekic 4-6, 1-6 Pironkova

This is just an incredible tournament for Tsvetana Pironkova! Her first in three years. Three years. And she's taken out the tenth and the 18th seed without dropping a set.

22:01 - Fucsovics 2-6 Tiafoe

Back out on Louis Armstrong Stadium, the USA's Frances Tiafoe is a set up, leading his Hungarian opponent.

22:00 - Moutet 1-6, 0-6 Auger-Aliassime

Corentin Moutet is being taken apart here while Auger-Aliassime pulls out all the tricks, including a tweener. Ouch.

21:43 - Vekic 4-6 Pironkova

Possible upset on the cards on Court 5 as Tsvetana Pironkova takes the first set against the 18th seed Donna Vekic. The Bulgarian takes both of her break point opportunities. She beat Garbine Muguruza in the last round, remember. And she hasn't played a tournament in three years. At all.

21:30 - Mertens is happy

Elise Mertens is pleased to have come through that challenging tie against Caty McNally.

21:21 - Auger-Aliassime racing ahead

Corentin Moutet has had a heck of a week, and Felix Auger-Aliassime is taking advantage - already 5-0 up before you can blink.

21:15 - Bautista Agut out

Another seed gone from the men's side as Pospisil despatches Roberto Bautista Agut 7-5, 2-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

21:10 - Serena wins in three!

Serena Williams wins and is through to the fourth round - 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 against Sloane Stephens.

20:47 - De Minaur 6-4, 0-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 Khachanov

A decent and swift final set from Alex de Minaur, past a tricky test in the 11th seed.

20:41 - Berrettini 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 Ruud

No such issues over on Court 17, where the sixth seed Matteo Berrettini has comfortably dispatched the 30th seed Caspar Ruud of Norway.

20:39 - Stephens 6-2, 2-6 Serena

And Serena hits four aces and ten winners, picking up her first serve percentage massively to level up and force a decider.

20:27 - Bautista Agut 5-7, 6-2, 6-4, 3-6 Pospisil

Same deal over on Louis Armstrong, where the Professional Tennis Players' Association's Vasek Pospisil has forced a final set against the eighth seed.

20:20 De Minaur 6-4, 0-6, 4-6, 6-3 Khachanov

Into a decider on Court 5, where 11th seed Karen Khachanov has just taken the fourth set.

20:07 - Stephens 6-2 Serena

Stephens is outhitting a statuesque Serena, and the 2017 champion is halfway there.

20:04 - Stephens 5-2 Serena

This is a brilliant start from Sloane Stephens. Serena doesn't know how to handle her and is looking slow.

19:58 - Muchova 6-3, 2-6, 7-6(7) Cirstea

Karolina Muchova.
She saves THREE match points in the tie-break to knock the valiant Sorana Cirstea out.

19:53 - Stephens 3-2 Serena

Serena lost her serve early on and is having to work very hard to keep it. Rather tense and edgy in these first games.

19:45 - Final set tie-break for Muchova and Cirstea

Sorana Cirstea is nothing if not enduring.

19:34 - Mertens 7-5, 6-1 McNally

The 16th seed recovers from a very poor start to charge through the second set and seal her place in the fourth round.

19:25 - More drama with the Paire 11

Didn't have enough corona-related drama yesterday? Here's a bit more. Kristina Mladenovic has been withdrawn from the doubles tournament, along with her partner Timea Babos. Find out all about it.

19:20 - Serena v Sloane up next

For the first time in five years, Serena Williams faces Sloane Stephens. They're on Ashe shortly.

19:10 - Bautista Agut 5-7, 6-2 Pospisil

A better second set from the eighth seed, who is working hard to avoid another upset.
Karen Khachanov, meanwhile, has levelled up against Alex de Minaur - taking the second set 6-0.

19:04 - Wolf 3-6, 3-6, 2-6 Medvedev

No real problems for Daniil Medvedev there, cruising through against the wildcard. The Russian has some nice things to say about him, though - saying in his own first Grand Slams he himself only won one match, and Wolf has already won two.

18:52 - Muchova 6-3, 2-6 Cirstea

Hitting back, the Romanian is taking Muchova to a decider like she did her seeded opponent in the last round.

18:31 - Wolf 3-6, 3-6 Medvedev

Wolf wins a couple of games in a row, breaking the Russian for the first time this week, but ultimately not enough to stop the momentum.

18:22 - Mertens 0-3 McNally

One half of the famed McCoco duo, Caty McNally is up a break on 16th seed Elise Mertens, who's yet to even get on the board.

18:18 - Bautista Agut 5-7 Pospisil

The Professional Tennis Players' Association's Vasek Pospisil breaks eighth seed Roberto Bautista Agut to take the first set over on Louis Armstrong Stadium.

18:15 - Muchova 6-3 Cirstea

Cirstea, conqueror of Johanna Konta, has a difficult challenge ahead of her today - the 20th seed Karolina Muchova, who's not dropped a set so far this week.

18:02 - De Minaur 3-1 Khachanov

Alex de Minaur has the early break against Karen Khachanov in the battle of the seeds.

17:44 - Wolf 3-6 Medvedev

JJ Wolf seems to be enjoying Duran Duran playing over the PA system between games. And who wouldn't? On the court, he has immense power, and Medvedev is showing some delightful touches.

17:32 - Caruso 0-6, 4-6, 0-6 Rublev

A win for the tenth seed, 6-0, 6-4, 6-0 over Salvatore Caruso in just 83 minutes.

17:18 - Skupski/Murray 6-3, 6-2 Middelkoop/Demoliner

Very sound day at the office for the British pair, serving the last game out to love to reach the quarter-finals.

17:12 - Caruso 0-6, 4-6 Rublev

The Italian put up more of a fight in the second set but it's tough times out there.

17:10 - Medvedev first on Ashe

Last year's runner-up faces the be-mulleted JJ Wolf on Arthur Ashe Stadium now.

17:07 - Murray and Skupski one set up

They lead Middlekoop and Demoliner 6-3, 3-2.

17:03 - Sakkari 6-3, 6-1 Anisimova

That was a surprisingly comfortable win for Sakkari over an erratic Anisimova - less than an hour gone, and she is the second Greek woman ever to reach the round of 16 at a Slam. She needs only her first match point to do it. A great show from her.
"I don't know. My speed, I didn't make many unforced errors...not give her time," says Sakkari, when asked about why she thinks she did so well today.
She faces either Serena or Sloane Stephens next.

16:43 - Sakkari 6-3, 1-1 Anisimova

Two very easy breaks at the start of the second set, with Anisimova showing some aggression in the first game but not translating that to her own serve.

16:36 - Sakkari 6-3 Anisimova

So many errors from a sloppy Anisimova in the second half of that set, and Sakkari breaks to love and pumps her fist in celebration.

16:32 - Caruso 0-6 Rublev

Andrey Rublev has absolutely smashed the first set on Court 5, leading Salvatore Caruso with a bagel.

16:15 - Sakkari 1-2 Anisimova

Intriguing clash on Louis Armstrong first today, going with serve at the moment. Sakkari is seeded 15th, Anisimova 22nd.
Meanwhile, Grand Slam champion Jamie Murray continues his campaign in the men's doubles with Neal Skupski.

16:00 - Good afternoon!

Welcome to our LIVE coverage of Day 6 of the US Open. What an action-packed day of tennis we had yesterday - let's hope for more of the same today.
In case you missed it, Novak Djokovic went through in straight sets against Jan-Lennard Struff yesterday, and then spoke more about his plans for the Professional Tennis Players' Association, which will, sensationally, include women.

00:05 - Goodnight!

But that's it from us for tonight. Join us again tomorrow from 4pm for Day 6 at the 2020 US Open!

00:04 - Mannarino 7-6(4), 4-6 Zverev

This is going to be an epic. If you want to follow along, you can, with our live scoring.

23:39 - Shapovalov 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-2 Fritz

An incredible win for Denis Shapovalov! Three-quarters of an hour ago, nobody would have expected that. Instead he's into the fourth round for the first time in three years.
"I think we both deserved to win today," says a humble victor.

23:24 - Mannarino 7-6(4) Zverev

First blood to Mannarino then, taking the tie-break against the number five seed.

23:16 - Mannarino 6-6 Zverev

This match is going to end up being five tie-break sets, isn't it?

23:05 - Shapovalov 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(5) Fritz

What a tie-break from Shapovalov! He's thrilled that he's taking this the distance, and he's taken advantage of Fritz tensing up under the pressure.

22:57 - Mannarino 4-4 Zverev

The match that should have been finished by now is just getting started on Louis Armstrong Stadium (and you have to feel a bit sorry for Stefanos Tsitsipas and Borna Coric, and Shelby Rogers and Madison Brengle - they're all due on the same court after this match has finished. One might have expected there to be some moving of the matches but we're getting a little late on in the day for that now.)

22:52 - Shapovalov 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 5-5 Fritz

Fritz misses his chance to serve for the match, and although he takes the first point off Shapovalov in the next game, the Canadian is just serving too well.

22:20 - Thompson 7-5, 6-4, 6-1 Kukushkin

Good win for Jordan Thompson of Australia, the current world number 63. He beats the veteran Kazakh, Mikhail Kukushkin, who has never been past the third round here.

22:12 - Adrian Mannarino is on court

After this ridiculousness, this match had better be good.

22:10 - Zverev v Mannarino still 'scheduled'

Sascha Zverev's name is on the scoreboards, there are ball kids and line judges but no players as yet.

22:06 - Shapovalov 3-6, 6-3, 4-6 Fritz

The Canadian got five double faults in that set, compared to Fritz's none - their unforced error count was pretty much equal, ten for Shapovalov, nine for the American.

22:00 - Carreno Busta cruises through

One-time US Open semi-finalist Pablo Carreno Busta beats Berankis 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 win.

21:53 - Linette 3-6, 2-6 Kontaveit

Not the way either player would have wanted it to end - had Linette been fully fit this would have been a much more engaging and competitive affair. Nevertheless, the 14th seed is through against the injured 24th seed.

21:47 - Linette 3-6, 2-4 Kontaveit

Linette's leg is heavily strapped now and she is not moving with any ease or comfort.

21:42 - Physio treating Linette

Linette looked to be gesturing to her left leg when the physio came to court, and she's now beginning her three-minute injury time-out.

21:37 - Linette 3-6, 2-3 Kontaveit

Linette heads to her chair, wraps some ice around herself, has a drink, and pops her face mask on. Possibly a physio is on the way out.

21:22 - Linette 3-6 Kontaveit

Magda Linette is suffering on her second serve, just 38 per cent of points won, and 14th seed Anett Kontaveit is profiting.

21:12 - Carreno Busta 6-4, 4-1 Berankis

Stealth seed Pablo Carreno Busta - the 20th seed - is cruising nicely out on Court 17, consolidating his break in the second set against Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania.

20:50 - Fritz 6-3 Shapovalov

In the Battle of the North Americas (which isn't really a thing), Taylor Fritz of the USA leads Denis Shapovalov of Canada 6-3.

20:45 - Zverev v Mannarino 'not before 10pm BST'

Our colleagues at Eurosport Germany are reporting that Zverev v Mannarino has been rescheduled to not before 10pm BST. Reporters in the USA are suggesting it is down to "political issues".

20:34 - Evans out

Fabulous performance from Corentin Moutet to beat Dan Evans, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(5), 7-6(1).

20:25 - Zverev isn't on court

He should have started his match against Adrian Mannarino - one of the Paire 11 - about 55 minutes ago. Instead, he's on the balcony overlooking Ashe, shirtless, playing on his phone. More news when we have it.

20:17 - 'SAY SOMETHING!'

Dan Evans is livid and shouts, "Say something!" at the half-dozen people in the stands. He then swears. All on serve in the fourth.

20:03 - Moutet cracks his racket

And he didn't even mean to. He's 3-4 down in the fourth set against Evans, about to serve, and his racket flies out of his hand, crashing to the floor with the grip off at a very odd angle.

19:47 - Osaka wins

That was a tough challenge from Kostyuk, but the fourth seed is through - 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-2.

19:37 - Goffin goes through

Good win for seventh seed David Goffin of Belgium, beating 26th seed Filip Krajinovic 6-1, 7-6(5), 6-4.

19:33 - Osaka 6-3, 6-7(4) Kostyuk

Kostyuk has had another time-out and had her foot looked at again, but she still seems to be moving OK. She has five break points and drops each of them in yet another lengthy deuce game, but Osaka comes back from 0-40 down to hold.

19:28 - Moutet 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(5) Evans

Evans was 4-1 up in this breaker and then lost it. Five sets, then?

19:18 - Evans and Moutet resume

This pair didn't have enough bants yesterday and are back for some more. They're into a third-set tie-break.

19:16 - Kerber through

Why is nobody talking about Angelique Kerber? She's through against Ann Li, winning 6-3, 6-4.

19:06 - Osaka 6-3, 6-7(4) Kostyuk

What a breaker from Marta Kostyuk. Both players hit 19 unforced errors in the set, with the Ukrainian really improving her first-serve percentage. Osaka is livid with herself and her racket goes skidding across the court.

18:46 - McNally upsets Alexandrova

Another match carried over from last night - the USA's Caty McNally beats 21st seed Ekaterina Alexandrova 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(2).

18:31 - Norrie 6-7(2), 6-4, 2-6 Davidovich Fokina

A wildly inconsistent Cameron Norrie is now two sets to one down against his Spanish opponent. The Brit was 2-1 up with a break early on in that third set.

18:29 - Swiatek wins, faces Azarenka

Poland's Iga Swiatek has won one of the matches that was held over from yesterday, beating Sachia Vickery of the USA 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-4. She'll play Victoria Azarenka next.

18:12 - Putintseva fights through

Putintseva avoids the shock, coming back from a set down to beat the valiant Sasnovich 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.

18:00 - Medical time-out for Kostyuk

Kostyuk is having her right ankle looked at.

17:55 - Osaka 6-3 Kostyuk

The volume is ramped up on Ashe as Osaka takes the first set. Kostyuk is racking up the unforced errors, 18 of them in that set, along with five double faults.

17:52 - Norrie 6-7(2), 6-4 Davidovich Fokina

Cameron Norrie levels up and on the way to doing so saves his 41st break point of the tournament so far.

17:39 - Martic cruises through

Eighth seed Petra Martic quietly going about her business on Louis Armstrong Stadium, taking out Varvara Gracheva 6-3, 6-3. Remember, the 20-year-old Russian knocked out Kiki Mladenovic on Wednesday in that bizarre three-setter.

17:32 - Putintseva back in it

The 23rd seed has taken the second set against Sasnovich 6-2 - into a decider on Court 17.

17:21 - Salisbury/Ram go through

A 6-2, 6-4 victory for Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram against the Harrisons. Very solid result.

17:15 - Naomi Osaka honours Ahmaud Arbery

17:07 - Norrie 6-7(2) Davidovich Fokina

Disappointing end to the set from Cameron Norrie in the tie-break. Davidovich Fokina is playing very well.

17:05 - Osaka next up

16:54 - Norrie 6-5 Davidovich Fokina

Cameron Norrie just held serve in 57 seconds, and then took his shirt off. I hope he's got a spare and dry one next to his chair.

16:51 - Sasnovich 6-3 Putintseva

And the Belarusian is halfway there. The 23rd seed promptly has a couple of swipes with her racket on to the floor. Lots of rage from the women's seeds so far this week.

16:41 - Salisbury and Ram one set up

Grand Slam champions Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram are one set up against the Harrisons, 6-2. This is the round of 16 stage in the doubles.

16:28 - Putintseva in trouble

Here's an interesting development out on Court 17 - Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus is 4-0 up on 23rd seed Yulia Putintseva.

16:20 - Norrie 1-2 Davidovich Fokina

The young Spaniard has a lovely dropshot on him. He gets the early break.

Good afternoon, and welcome to our LIVE coverage of Day 5 at the 2020 US Open.
Cameron Norrie begins today's British interest, looking to get past the third round of a Slam for the first time.
As you know, Andy Murray was knocked out yesterday - but you can hope to see him at a major again soon. Read all about it.

00:00 - Goodnight!

And there we have to leave it, because our live coverage is over for the day. You can keep up with the rest of Moutet v Evans with our live scoring - and follow Andy Murray v Felix Auger Aliassime as well. Join us again tomorrow for all the best coverage of the US Open!

23:56 - Moutet 3-6, 6-3, 5-4 Evans

He can consolidate, and does.

23:54 - Moutet 3-6, 6-3, 4-4 Evans

These two are still shouting in each other's languages. That's another break given away by Dan Evans, but can Moutet consolidate? Two and a half hours in here.

23:43 - Moutet 3-6, 6-3, 3-4 Evans

Dan Evans takes his second break point and this is absolutely brilliant. He sends it cross-court after Moutet tries a backward overhead - some terrific shots.

23:36 - Moutet 4-6, 6-3, 3-3 Evans

Evans is muttering, "C'mon, Evo," to himself now, but it doesn't work here as Moutet anticipates every serve and shot.

23:25 - Murray and Skupski through

23:17 - Moutet 4-6, 6-3, 0-2 Evans

"Three. In a ROOOOOW!" bellows Evans, unhappy with a trio of previous shots. He then shouts something about his shots at the net. And then holds serve. Moutet is annoyed about something and asks the umpire if he can look at the replay of the final point. She obliges but sounds quite fed up.

23:10 - Stephens wins

Former US Open champion Sloane Stephens is through, beating Olga Govortsova 6-2, 6-2. The American is seeded 26th this year.

23:06 - Moutet 4-6, 6-3, 0-1 Evans

Evans has changed into a dark shirt. Moutet is hitting harder and quicker now, and also shouting, "Yes!" That might be related to Evans' earlier exclamations of "Allez!" It's still the Brit who gets ahead with the break of serve.

22:57 - Moutet 4-6, 6-3 Evans

Less rage from the Frenchman now, and Dan Evans looks frustrated as he hits into the net and follows that up with a long shot.

22:50 - Moutet 4-6, 4-3 Evans

Even Moutet has to applaud a lovely Evans dink over the net.

22:42 - Moutet 4-6, 3-2 Evans

Moutet gets the break after a slack game from Evans, who does save a break point with some great movement towards the net. He then refuses to sit nicely in his chair and heads right to the baseline to await his opponent's serve.

22:36 - Moutet 4-6, 1-2 Evans

This is really quite amusing, Moutet is furious and Evans is just winding him up. He shouted, "Allez!" at one point. These two temperaments do not mesh well. Or maybe they do, if you like aggro.

22:18 - Moutet 4-6 Evans

Moutet is annoyed that Evans is moving before he serves, and after complaining at the umpire after two successive points, he throws his racket at the back board. You can still hear the complaining as Evans fistpumps in celebration. No wonder the British No 1 is pleased, though, he's pulled off a real comeback there.

22:03 - Moutet 4-4 Evans

"Come on! Come on!" shouts Evans at himself. And he brings out some great tennis to break Moutet back and get things back on level terms.

21:58 - Moutet 4-3 Evans

Moutet is using the squash shot with aplomb, but Evans does well here to save multiple break points. He's chuntering at himself in proper Murray-style.

21:50 - Moutet 4-2 Evans

These two are having a delightfully feisty duel so far. Moutet tries a dropshot, Evans hits the angle.

21:47 - Raonic beaten by Pospisil

Milos Raonic is out, beaten by compatriot Vasek Pospisil of the putative Professional Tennis Players' Association.

21.30 - Catch up with the latest results

21:24 - Moutet 1-0 Evans

Corentin Moutet is wearing some extremely fluorescent yellow kit, and perhaps Dan Evans is dazzled, because he's broken in this opening game.

21:15 - Up next, Dan Evans

The men's British No 1 is next up. Can he have better luck?

21:05 - Konta out

What a disappointing show from Johanna Konta - she had the chance to break back at the end of this third set, but let a 0-40 advantage slip. Good performance from Cirstea.

20:58 - Thiem wins

Good stuff from the Austrian, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 over Nagal.

20:53 - Konta 6-3, 6-7(5), 3-5 Cirstea

This is ridiculous from Konta, she's 40-0 up and all set to break back, but she's continually overhitting and allows Cirstea back into it.

20:47 - Konta 6-3, 6-7(5), 3-4 Cirstea

A hold from Cirstea and a brilliant, lengthy game in which she breaks. A tremendous point to finish with, a deft backhand from Konta and Cirstea snaps it up quickly, sending it across the court.

20:32 - Konta 6-3, 6-7(5), 3-2 Cirstea

Cirstea is losing her composure, and continues to shout at herself. Konta holds and edges ahead in this final set.

20:27 - Konta 6-3, 6-7(5), 2-2 Cirstea

Hmm, interesting development. Cirstea 40-15 up on her serve, and Konta chooses some brilliant shots to get the break. The Romanian is frustrated and has a bit of a shout.

20:18 - Konta 6-2, 6-7(5), 1-2 Cirstea

This is not good from Konta as a resurgent Cirstea moves forward with the break, in front for the first time in this match. They've only met once previously, and that was on grass two years ago, in Konta's home town Eastbourne. The Brit won in straight sets that day.

20:14 - Thiem 6-3, 6-3 Nagal

Dominic Thiem isn't wasting time - just 80 minutes on the clock.

20:00 - Konta 6-2, 6-7(5) Cirstea

The Romanian has really stepped up her tennis in this second set, serving up four aces and getting her first serve in much better.

19:48 - First set to Thiem

Dominic Thiem takes the first set against Nagal, 6-3.

19:38 - Konta 6-2, 5-5 Cirstea

Konta staying in touch, and goes over to her chair quickly to regroup before getting back to the baseline, bouncing on tiptoes.

19:35 - Konta 6-2, 4-5 Cirstea

That could be costly for Johanna Konta, who misses a chance to break and Cirstea is looking much more confident on her forehand.

19:25 - Becker on Murray - 'The biggest heart on the tennis court'

"This is why the big boys still play, because they want to win the Grand Slams."

19:15 - De Minaur through

Alex De Minaur managed to stop the rot in the fourth set against Richard Gasquet, winning 6-4, 6-3, 6-7(6), 7-5.

19:10 - Thiem a break up

Birthday boy Dominic Thiem, the second seed, is already a break up on Sumit Nagal of India.

19:04 - Konta 6-2, 2-1 Cirstea

There's the break - Sorana Cirstea is serving up too many errors and Konta is hitting hard and punishing her.

19:00 - Konta 6-2, 1-1 Cirstea

A badly-executed dropshot on game point but Konta recovers. All on serve in the second.

18:51 - Konta 6-2 Cirstea

A 40-minute first set for Johanna Konta, who is playing very well on her first serve. Cirstea is always a bit of a handful so it'll be interesting to see what happens now.

18:46 - Konta 5-2 Cirstea

Magnificent tennis from Johanna Konta to get a third break, putting Cirstea's serve under massive pressure.

18:43 - De Minaur drops three match points!

My apologies to the men's seeds, who I jinxed by commenting on their smooth progress so far today. Alex De Minaur, the 21st seed, has let three match points slip against France's Richard Gasquet, who's forced a fourth set on Court 11 - and is already a break up there.

18:40 - Konta 4-2 Cirstea

Konta is looking very happy, which is nice to see. She's protecting her break so far.

18:35 - Kenin wins

It was a bit challenging in places but Sofia Kenin is through, 6-4, 6-3 against teenage Canadian Leylah Fernandez.

18:22 - Konta 1-0 Cirstea

Konta breaks the Cirstea serve in the opening game. Very good start.

18:15 - Johanna Konta on court

British number one Johanna Konta resumes her campaign now - she takes on Romania's Sorana Cirstea on Court 5.

18:05 - Anisimova beats Scott 4-6, 6-4, 6-1

That was a proper joust, that. Amanda Anisimova finally gets past 16-year-old Katrina Scott, who can take so much from her bow on the big stage.

18:02 - Kenin one set to the good

Sofia Kenin is 6-4 up against Fernandez - halfway to round three.

18:00 - Khachanov through

Easy enough for Karen Khachanov - 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 against Andrey Kuznetsov.

17:35 - Muguruza out!

What a win for the returning Pironkova - 7-5, 6-3. Muguruza is raging but the Bulgarian deserved that victory.
Elsewhere, Anisimova has stepped it up and gritted her teeth to level up against Scott, taking the second set 6-4.

17:25 - Vekic through

Nice and easy for the Croatian.

17:21 - Fernandez 1-2 Kenin

Sofia Kenin, the Australian Open champion, is facing yet another teenager - this one is Canadian, 17-year-old Leylah Fernandez. The second seed has the first break, and leads 2-1 over on Ashe.

17:03 - Men's seeds update

The men's seeds are doing better. 21st seed Alex de Minaur leads Richard Gasquet 6-4, Karen Khachanov, the 11th seed, is up 6-3 on Andrey Kuznetsov, and eight seed Roberto Bautista Agut leads Miomir Kecmanovic 6-3.

16:58 - Pironkova 7-5 Muguruza

Garbine Muguruza was hitting backhand winners all over the place and looked poised to wrap up the set, but Pironkova benefits from a let cord and some good fortune. Muguruza's racket does not, it is smashed to bits.
Greece's Maria Sakkari has also lost the first set, 6-2 to Bernard Pera. Seeds in trouble on the women's side of the draw today!

16:54 - Scott 6-4 Anisimova

Wow. Katrina Scott's backhand is incredible. Two aces in this set (and three double faults). Anisimova clocked up 20 unforced errors.

16:50 - Vekic 6-2 Tig

A nice and comfortable day so far for 18th seed Donna Vekic, winning 75 per cent of her points on her first serve against Patricia Maria Tig.

16:40 - Scott's Black Lives Matter shirt

Katrina Scott came onto court today wearing a Black Lives Matter t-shirt.

16:24 - Pironkova 2-3 Muguruza

Garbine Muguruza is absolutely pelting down the backhands today.
Also, keep your eye on Louis Armstrong Stadium, because Katrina Scott is already 4-1 up on Anisimova.

16:18 - Sakkari 0-3 Pera

This is a storming start to the match from Bernarda Pera, who has already broken the serve of 15th seed Maria Sakkari twice.
Elsewhere, Muguruza has an early break against Pironkova, and leads 2-1.

16:00 - Good afternoon!

Another massive day of tennis in store. Seeds on court right now include Spain's Garbine Muguruza, who faces Tsvetana Pironkova, and the USA's Amanda Anisimova, who takes on a compatriot - 16-year-old Katrina Scott. On the men's side, Karen Khachanov plays Andrey Kuznetsov.
