The 23-time Grand Slam champion is into an 11th Wimbledon semi final as she comes from behind to defeat Giorgi, who gave it her all in a competitive Centre Court encounter that lasted one hour and 42 minutes. SW served it out to love and will meet Kiki Bertens or Julia Goerges in the last four.

S.WILLIAMS 3-6 6-3 5-4 GIORGI. Camila pushes Serena right to the wire. She holds to love and knows it's now or never to break back. Serena will serve for the match next.

S.WILLIAMS 3-6 6-3 3-2 GIORGI. Another ace is followed by a double fault for Giorgi, but she manages to stay in touch with a crisp forehand winner to Serena's right flank.


S.WILLIAMS 3-6 6-3 3-1 GIORGI. Another big 'Come on!' from Serena as she consolidates with a hold to 30. She has the breathing space she wanted and is closing in on the last four.


BREAK! - S.WILLIAMS 3-6 6-3 2-1 GIORGI. Serena is ahead for the first time in the match! The American unloads a third return winner of the match to rack up triple break point and converts at the first time of asking with a backhand pass on the stretch.

S.WILLIAMS 3-6 5-2 GIORGI. The seven-time champion makes short work of another one-sided service game as she cruises to the love hold.


S.WILLIAMS 3-6 4-2 GIORGI. Camila manages to halt some of the Serena momentum, but there's definitely been a notable rise in the calibre of SW's play.

BREAK! - S.WILLIAMS 3-6 3-1 GIORGI. There it is! The Serena charge. Giorgi saves one of two break points, but can do little to defend a sweeping crosscourt winner off the 23-time Grand Slam champion's forehand.

S.WILLIAMS 3-6 2-1 GIORGI. This is proving to be a smashing watch so far. Giorgi threatens at 0-30, but Serena surges back playing bigger tennis and emitting louder grunts to pull off the hold.


S.WILLIAMS 3-6 1-1 GIORGI. Camila remains unfazed playing in one Serena's back yards. The American sizzles a stonking return winner to eek up the pressure at 40-30, but Giorgi conjures up a wide ace to respond in style.


S.WILLIAMS 3-6 1-0 GIORGI. Serena kicks off Set 2 with a routine hold to 15. The scoreboard pressure could well be important as this set develops.


SET! - S.WILLIAMS 3-6 GIORGI. That's a turn up for the books! Giorgi shrugs off the obligatory double fault to serve big, hit positively and serve out the opener in 35 minutes with a confident game to 15.

S.WILLIAMS 3-5 GIORGI. Serena gives herself one last chance to break back with a rapid love hold.


S.WILLIAMS 2-5 GIORGI. That is a hold of mega proportions. Serena comes out hitting big and snares triple break point. Somehow Giorgi battles back to deuce, saves another BP for good measure and edges through a real test of her mental strength to move within a game of the set.


BREAK! - S.WILLIAMS 2-4 GIORGI. Interesting... very interesting. Giorgi finally makes some headway on the Williams serve - and how. She goes big on her returns and it pays off as Serena miscues from the baseline to cough up the break.


S.WILLIAMS 2-3 GIORGI. Camila seems to be relishing this stage. The Italian lands a third ace of the contest before claiming the hold to 30 with a corking crosscourt forehand.


S.WILLIAMS 2-2 GIORGI. No joy for Giorgi once again as SW23 races through another love hold.


S.WILLIAMS 1-2 GIORGI. The Italian choose the perfect moment to crash down a first ace o the match at 30-30 before a crosscourt drive volley seals the deal.

S.WILLIAMS 1-1 GIORGI. No such drama for Mrs Williams. She romps through an easy love hold to get on the board.


S.WILLIAMS 0-1 GIORGI. Camila chalks up her 39th double fault of the tournament to give Serena an ominous early break point. However, the Italian rallies superbly, sizzling a wonderful crosscourt forehand winner to make deuce before some big serving ensures she commences on a positive note.


Giorgi will serve first.


HEAD-TO-HEAD: This is the fourth meeting. Serena has a 100 per cent record and has never dropped a set against the Italian.
