Mauresmo far from bright

Amelie Mauresmo, the recently disposed world number one, stuttered in the second set of her quarter-final match in Linz against Ai Sugiyama of Japan, before rounding out a 6-2 6-4 victory over the defending champion. Earlier in the day Serbian Jelena Jank
Top seed Mauresmo, who has not lost to Sugiyama in seven meetings, eased through the first set before she lost concentration.
The Japanese won the first eight points of the second set to go 2-0 up and then had break points for 4-1 and 5-2.
The Frenchman held her off, however, and from 3-4 down Mauresmo won three games in succession to reach the last four on her first match point.
Mauresmo will now play Jankovic in the 19-year-old's second semi-final of her senior career.
The Serbia and Montenegro player beat Russia's Zvonareva 6-4 6-4, ending the fourth seed's slim chances of reaching the end-of-season WTA Tour championships.
