Japan captain Hidetoshi Nakata could leave cash-strapped Parma and join Italian rivals Bologna on loan, a Japanese newspaper reported on Saturday. Bologna are interested in signing the 26-year-old on a six-month contract running from January until the end
Italian foods group Parmalat, which bought Parma in 1991, has debts totalling six billion euros. The club itself is almost 40 million euros in the red.
The move would also make sense for Nakata, who done little to justify his huge price tag since joining Parma from AS Roma for $26 million in July 2001.
The disgruntled midfielder has made no secret of his desire to move to England and is eager for more first-team football. He has yet to complete a full match in 11 league appearances this season.
Bologna would have to pay half of the $2.4 million salary Nakata earns at Parma, the Nikkan Sports said.
