Looks like Nibali will also take the red jersey.

After five and a half hours of racing it is Duarte who wins the 'sprint' for second from Rigoberto Uran and Carlos Betancur. That means that Betancur will take the white jersey and Uran will leapfrog Cadel Evans to move into second place.

With the Maglia Rosa on his shoulders Vincenzo Nibali battles the elements to take the stage win, the Cima Coppi and with it the overall win in the Giro d'Italia 2013. It's been a tough three weeks, but he has been by far the strongest and now he has a high mountain stage to add to his time trial win on Thursday.

The snow is getting heavier as we hit the top and Nibali is just ticking over to get to the finish.

Three Columbians are now chasing Nibali but it will matter not to the Maglia Rosa as he has this stage in hand. The battle for second and the battle for the white jersey continue behind.

Durate (Columbia) has come out of the group behind and is struggling to stay with the pace of Uran and Betancur, as Nibali goes under the red kite.
1.2km
Betnacur is caught by Evans but looks like he is only watching Majka and is not interested in pushing any harder than he has to.
1.4km
Evans is still working, but he hasn't reached the wheel of Uran just yet. He is being followed by Majka and Italian champion Pelozotti.
1.5km
Nibali looks totally focused and almost comfortable in this totally white mountain. He's being surrounded by crazed fans and has to slap them away.
1.5km
Evans continues to grind away behind and is gaining ground on Uran and may well hold on to second place if he can catch him.

Betnacur (AG2R) may well be in a position now to steal the white jersey from Majka as it looks like the Columbian is the stronger of the young riders.

Nibali goes again as he overtakes Capecchi. He leaves Betancur, Majka and Uran in his wake. He's opening up a lead now and the two Columbians are trying to work together. We're on a ramp of 18% at present.

Capecchi is still out front and being chased down by Nibali now. Nibali keeps digging and looks like he is putting daylight between himself and the Columbians, Uran and Betancur.
2.5km
Nibali is still pushing on and has Uran, Brtancur and Majka for company. The only one that wil concern him is Uran but he has over 4 minutes on him. Evan has been dropped.
3km
Nibali pushes on at the front and is joined by Tanel Kangert. It sdoesn't look like anyone can follow him.

Cappechi (Movistar) has 13 seconds on Weening and 30 seconds on the Nibali group.
3km
Nibali sits second in the group of favourites which still includes Uran and Evans.
4km
We are less than 1km from a world of pain for all of these riders as Cappechi continues to lead.

These riders have over 30 seconds on the bunch of favourites but they are all over the road. Robert Kizerlowski has joined Atapuma behind the leading trio.

Cappechi has left Brambilla and Weening as the roads snake up the Tre Cime di Lavaredo.
