Here come Astana... they still have seven riders with their eighth only recently dropped. They come through 20 seconds down on Ineos, which isn't bad considering Fuglsang's crash yesterday.

The CCC Team of polka dot jersey Greg van Avermaet are down the ramp.

Warren Barguil, the French champion, leads the much depleted Arkea team across the line 1:30 down on Ineos. Just four riders still together as they come home - and that deficit will open things up for the Frenchman and his bid to win stages and the polka dot jersey he took in 2017.

Bardet's Ag2R team are 27 seconds down on Ineos at the first check, so the Frenchman is on course to enter the first mountain stage on Thursday the best part of a minute - if not more - in arrears.

At the second check and Fuglsang's Astana are really suffering. They're 19 seconds down on Ineos. But that's not as bad as Arkea, who are a full 1:08 down.

Groupama-FDJ are pushing Ineos the most so far. Pinot's men came through the first check in 14:06 which is just eight seconds down.

Team Total Direct Energie get their effort going. Don't expect big things, even with Niki Terpstra there.

Ineos shed a couple more before the finish and it's Dylan Van Baarle, the Dutchman, who leads the five riders home - the time is taken with the fourth rider. Both Thomas and Bernal were there. The target time is 29:18.

Ineos have dropped their first rider. Surprisingly, it's Wout Poels, the Dutch whippet. He won a stage in the Dauphine and is one of the big mountain lieutenants for Thomas and Egan Bernal.

The Movistar team of the holy trinity of Nairo Quintana, Mikel Landa and Alejandro Valverde are next down the ramp.

Arkea-Samsic come through the first check in 14'14 so that's 16 seconds down on Ineos. CORRECTION: it's 14:44 and so that's 46 seconds in arrears...
13:50
The Ag2R-La Mondiale team of Romain Bardet are on course. Both Frenchmen - Pinot and Bardet - will try to limit their losses today. They're not the best against the clock individually, but perhaps even weaker collectively as part of their team unit.
13:45
The Groupama-FDJ team of Thibaut Pinot are the latest to roll down the ramp.

Ineos come through the intermediate check with a time of 13'58"96. That's an average speed of 56.6km/h.
Ineos riding well here with all eight still together as they pass the 15km to go marker. They're approaching the 13.2km split at Bois de la Cambre.

Astana are on the way now. They had a tricky first day with Jakob Fuglsang crashing badly with 18km remaining. The Dane rallied to complete the stage - and he's started again today - but he bashed his knee and cut his elbow and forehead quite badly.

CORRECTION: The nuances of the finish are a bit more complicated than I first thought for I hadn't appreciated the bonus seconds that were dished out yesterday. The GC has Teunissen on top by four seconds on Sagan, six seconds on Ewan and 10 seconds on the rest. That means the Dutchman could still be in yellow even if Jumbo come, say, second to Bora, but by fewer than four seconds... Put differently, Ineos could win the TTT by nine seconds over Jumbo and Teunissen will still be in yellow. Got that?

The Arkea-Samsic team of French national champion Warren Barguil and German veteran sprinter Andre Greipel are the second team to get going. The teams are going at five-minute intervals. Astana next.
