There is a lot of blood streaming from the nose of Hegazi. The Egypt medical staff are trying to patch him up, but it actually looks like the defender might have to come off here.

Should that have been a goal? The corner kick delivery to the back post was a good one an Alaa seemed to have the simple task of heading home, but the ball somehow evaded him. Big opportunity!

Egypt looked like they might just run away with this game in the opening 10 minutes, but Zimbabwe have steadied themselves and are now doing a good job of holding their own.

Head knock! Hegazi is receiving some treatment after he received a blow in that aerial clash with Mushekwi. The Egyptian defender will be fine, but there is a stop in the play for the moment.

First time shot! Mushekwi and Hegazi clash in the air with the ball then falling to Mosona about 16 yards out. However, he slices his shot high and wide of the targeted when he needed to take a touch.

Salah gets the shot away! The Liverpool attacker takes down a high ball from Trezeguet at the back post. He teased the defender in front of him, but Sibanda makes the low save from Salah.

Of course, this is a competition that used to be played in the winter but has now been moved to the summer months because so many African players now play for clubs in Europe.

Trezeguet's touch let him down there. The pass into him from Salah was a ood one and had the touch from Trezeguet was poor and that allowed Zimbabwe to recover with possession.

Egypt started with an incredibly high tempo, not just moving the ball quickly, but pressing high on their opponents. Now, there is a sense that they are just taking a bit of a breather.

Indeed, this has been a lot better from Zimbabwe in the last five minutes or so. Egypt are still creating chances, but Karuru is pulling strings for the away side in the middle of the park.

Almost the perfect pass! The Zimbabwe defence split open, presenting Salah with the chance to play through Mohsen. But it was just a little in front of the Egypt striker in the six yard box.

Mohsen should have done better! A deflected pass fell to the Egyptian striker at the back post, but Mohsen got a little too excited and sliced his effort wildly past the near post when he should have hit the target.

Salah is involving himself in everything for Egypt in the final third of the pitch at the moment. The Liverpool man looks fresh having had a couple weeks to rest up after the Champions League final.

The tackles are starting to fly in now. Zimbabwe are doing a better job of keeping the ball now. They are beginning to gain a foothold and are keeping Egypt's at arm's length.

Egypt had a difficult World Cup last summer, losing all three of their group games and going home early. They look so much more comfortable in this opening AFCON game so far.
