SANCHO AND REUS GOALS BOOK DORTMUND’S QUARTER-FINAL PLACE
Borussia Dortmund are through to quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League after surviving a stern second half test to beat PSV Eindhoven 2-0 to complete a 3-1 aggregate victory.
The German hosts dominated the first half from the moment that Jadon Sancho opened the scoring in the third minute with a shot that snuck past the keeper from outside the box.
But PSV had all the momentum in the second half and missed a hat-full of chances, with Luuk de Jong’s stoppage time miss the most egregious of the wasted opportunities, as they failed to force extra-time.
Dortmund thought they’d bagged a second on the night against the run of play, only for Niclas Fullkrug’s finish to be ruled out for the most narrow of offsides.
But the home side cemented their spot in the last eight with the final of the game, as Marco Reus coolly slotted home after an error at the back from PSV, much to the delight of the fans at a raucous Signal Iduna Park.

    FULL-TIME: DORTMUND ARE THROUGH
The final whistle goes and Dortmund celebrate their progress to the quarter-finals. Those final few minutes of the game really should have seen PSV force extra-time, but it was the hosts, who were on the back-foot for much of the second half, who bagged the late goal to seal their 3-1 aggregate win.

    GOAL! DORTMUND 2-0 PSV (REUS)
It’s game over as PSV give the ball away looking for one more opportunity and Reus takes advantage, bursting through one-on-one and finishing into the bottom corner to make it 3-1 on aggregate and seal Dortmund’s spot in the quarter-finals.

    THAT WAS THE MOMENT!
PSV work a brilliant chance for Luuk de Jong, cutting Dortmund open with a passive move that ends with De Jong shooting over the bar. He had to score there. He simply had to. What a wasted opportunity.

    STRAIGHT AT THE KEEPER
Lozano darts inside and shoots from range, but it’s straight at the keeper and that’s a bit of a waste. There were so many teammates forward.

    ADDED TIME
There will be five minutes added on at the end of this game. Can PSV force extra-time and keep their campaign going?

    TEZE SHOOTS WIDE
The ball sits up invitingly for Teze to hit from decent and he sends a thunderbolt fizzing narrowly wide of the upright.

    POOR DELIVERY
Almost every red shirt is forward in the box as a free-kick is whipped in, but it doesn’t beat the first man and Dortmund survive.

TIME RUNNING OUT FOR THE VISITORS
Can PSV find the equaliser? De Jong has a sight of goal but goes near post when he really should have sent it across the face of goal.

    NO GOAL! VAR INTERVENES
Reus delivers a peach of a cross from a free-kick and Fullkrug rises highest in the box to head home. Dortmund’s fans celebrate a goal that looks to have all-but sealed their progress, but a lengthy VAR check rules that it was offside and the goal is chalked off. It remains 1-0 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate.

    ALMOST THE EQUALISER
Kobel pulls out a remarkable reaction stop to deny Bakayoko at the near post after the PSV man sat Hummels down with a glorious piece of skill. The Dortmund veteran rages at his teammates for leaving him in that one-on-one situation.
