Villa more or less with a back six when Spurs are high up the pitch. Not being overly ambitious as yet.

Spurs are unbeaten in all 11 domestic matches at White Hart Lane in 2016-17. No problems just yet.

Spurs force their first corner of the match. In it comes from Trippier, met by Dier but lacks power and direction and easy for Johnstone.

Grealish with another decent ball into the box and Spurs eventually clear after a spot of volley tennis. Good spell for Villa ends when Grealish fires well over the bar.

Half an hour played and a little too early to say this has 0-0 written all over it. Adomah does well to win a free kick for Villa but Hutton may have been in if advantage was played.

Bacuna has a go at goal from distance but straight at Vorm and a comfortable save. Probably grateful to have some action!

Son runs at Baker and seems to have the beating of him in the box but it’s a great recovery from the Villa defender to prevent a clear chance for Spurs.

The two previous FA Cup third-round ties between the clubs both ended in away wins for Villa: 3-2 in 1903 and 1-0 in a replay in 1992 after a goalless draw at Villa Park.

Johnstone elects to punch clear as the rain belts down at White Hart Lane. Spurs enjoying the Lion’s share of possession without creating too much.

Everyone back defending in numbers for Villa. Not exactly Plymouth style… Winks fouled by Grealish and wins a dangerous free kick.

Spurs break with pace and Winks seeks out Janssen but it’s a tough one to deal with and he loses out with a defender either side of him.
