- These two sides last met in the FA Cup in 1992 when Aston Villa progressed to the fourth round after winning 1-0 in a third round replay at White Hart Lane.
- Aston Villa have progressed to the fourth round in seven of the last eight seasons, losing out to Sheffield United in 2014 after a 2-1 loss at Villa Park.
- Spurs have lost just one of their last 16 encounters in all competitions against the Villains (W12 D3), winning eight of the last nine.
