We've just had the first television cutaway to Mikel Arteta on the City bench. Is this his last game before taking over as manager of Arsenal?

Foden works Mahrez into a good crossing position on the right, but it's deflected slightly and Oxford get it away.

Baptiste makes a surge forwards into the City half, but overruns the ball and City clear.
KICK-OFF

We're underway.
19:44
There will be a minute's applause before kick-off in memory of Jim Smith, the former Oxford United manager who passed away last week.
19:41
It’s nearly time to go, the captains Robert Dickie and Raheem Sterling are ready to lead out the players. Your referee tonight will be Andy Madley. It’s a wet and windy old night at Oxford’s three-sided Kassam Stadium.
19:35
Manchester City have won this competition six times, a record that is second only to Liverpool, including four times in the last six seasons. If they go all the way this season it will complete a hat-trick of consecutive victories in the tournament and give them a shot at equalling Liverpool’s record of four in a row from 1981-84 next season.
19:30
This competition once housed Oxford United’s greatest triumph, when they walloped Queens Park Rangers 3-0 in the final at Wembley in 1986. Back then the competition was sponsored by a very different kind of energy drink – namely, milk.
19:26
Even with a radically changed side, their visitors will be formidable opposition. City are the defending champions in this competition and have won five of the last six major trophies contested in England. They currently trail Premier League leaders Liverpool by 14 points, a seemingly insurmountable deficit that might force them to double down their efforts in a competition they’ve dominated in recent years.
19:20
What a run this has been for Oxford United. They might have been drawn at home in every round so far, but they’ve wiped out some big names in this competition. The last two rounds have taken in a 4-0 thrashing of West Ham and a victory on penalties over Sunderland. Can Karl Robinson’s team possibly cause the biggest upset of all by knocking out the defending champions tonight?
19:16
For Manchester City there are eight changes from the team that walloped Arsenal on Sunday. Only Rodri, Sterling and Foden from that team start tonight. Their 17-year old centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis makes his second start for City tonight, and his third appearance overall; his debut and first start for City was against Preston North End in the third round of this competition.
19:10
Oxford United have made four changes to their team that lost away to MK Dons on Saturday. Cadden, Mousinho, Sykes and Hall make way for Moore, Baptiste, Agyei and Long.
