Real Madrid sub: Cristiano Ronaldo OFF, Jese Rodriguez ON.

Indeed, Ronaldo is heading down the tunnel. His night is over and his replacement is getting ready to come on. He appears to have picked up a knock in a challenge with Aleix.

Ronaldo is off the field at the moment and it doesn't look so good for him. He's walking towards the bench. Is his game over?

Carvajal comes close to doubling Real Madrid's lead! The fullback breaks into the box and shots across goal, but Esteban gets down low to tip the ball round the post. Strangely a goal kick is given.

With Barcelona winning earlier today it's crucial for Ancelotti's side to keep the pressure on the Catalans with victory tonight at Almeria.

Bale looks to be sticking to his position on the right side of Real Madrid's front three. I think we could see him switch to the other side as the game goes on.

The high tempo of the game has returned after the break. Should make for an entertaining second half.

So can Almeria turn this into a genuine contest in the second half? They're somewhat lucky to be only losing 1-0 at this point.

On the whole Real Madrid are deserving of their lead at half time but after such a poor start Almeria have responded well. Rodri and Aleix have been threatening and Ancelotti will be keen for his side to build a two goal cushion in the second half.

HALF TIME: Almeria 0-1 Real Madrid

Once again Rodri is played down the channels and in behind the Real Madrid defence, but this time he flashes his effort over the bar. Getting closer.

Alonso hasn't been as influential as he normally is. Maybe he's struggling to develop a partnership alongside Illarramendi. Some suggest that the two players are too similar to each other.

Play continues and Rodri eventually rises to his feet. But when Almeria come forward through Aleix his shot is wild, after cutting inside on to his right foot, and the ball drifts over the bar.

Rodri is down on the turf after a collision with Arbeloa but Real Madrid are choosing to play on, much to the home side's disgruntlement.

Verza plays a clever little pass in behind the Real Madrid defence, with Rodri running on to the ball. However, the striker's shot is tame and is saved at the near post by Lopez.

Bale surges down the left side, running on his toes in that unique way he does, but with options either side of him he slashes his shot well wide of goal. Wrong choice.

Ancelotti is down on the sidelines barking orders at his players. I'd think he's telling them to keep using the wide areas, where they've had a lot of joy in the game so far.

Real Madrid have been excellent at working good opportunities in the final third but they need to be a lot more ruthless when they get into those positions.

Bale plays a delicious cross into the box with the outside of his left foot but in the end it's too long and drifts over the head of Benzema at the back post.
