Ronaldo breaks into the left hand channel, attracting three Elche defenders to him. But the Real Madrid number seven's cut back can't find Benzema inside the Elche penalty area.

There have been some dodgy decisisons from the linesmen in this game. They get this one on Benzema right, but that was only after they got one wrong on Bale as he raced through.

Real Madrid look to be taking a more measured approach in the opening few minutes of this half. At times they were rushing their attacking moves in the first half. It wasn't working.

Are we going to see more attacking intent from the home side in this second half? That was better anything they had in front of goal throughout the entire opening 45 minutes before the break.

Casillas is called upon to make a stop in the opening few minutes of the second half? Victor fires off a shot from a tight angle, but nonetheless the Real Madrid keeper needs to make the save.

No changes from Ancelotti at the break, as he sticks with the same eleven players that started the match. Although he did send out his Real Madrid team early for the start of the second period.

HALF TIME: Elche 0-0 Real Madrid. This has been a strange performance from Los Blancos. They have been the better team, but they are struggling to create anything in the final third.

Did the referee disallow that goal from Benzema for dangerous play? It's not clear if the linesman raised his flag. If that's dangerous play that's a terrible call from the referee. Great goal, or at least it should have been.

Benzema has scored a sensational overhead kick! He met the cross from Bale on the overhead volley! But it has been ruled out for offside. Replays show that he was onside! He's been robbed of an excellent goal!

Are we seeing the impact of playing in the Champions League on Real Madrid? They started strongly but have fallen off in the last 10 minutes or so. Are they starting to feel weary?

YELLOW CARD: Marcelo (Real Madrid)

Elche have settled into this game as the first half has progressed. That doesn't mean that they have posed any real threat to Real Madrld, but they look better organised at the back.

Bale races through on goal after a through ball from Kroos, but the flag is raised on the near side. However, replays show that the Welsh winger was in fact in line with the last man.

What happened there? Varane and Pepe almost mess up a pass from Casillas, but the Real Madrid goalkeeper recovers and Jonathas can't make the most of the error between the three players.
