Guedes wins the throw in. It's been a difficult evening for the Portuguese international. Valencia just haven't been able to hit out on the counter attack besides the one that their goal came from.

By my count, Ansu has only lost the ball once in this first half. The teenager possesses such fantastic decision making. He really looks like a superstar in waiting, if he's not already one.

ANSU... wide! That was a very similar chance to the one the teenager had not so long ago. He cut inside on to his right foot on the edge of the box and lashes a strike wide of the far post. Not far away at all!

That Valencia goal against the run of play has knocked some of the stuffing from Barcelona. They have lost their way a little bit, although they are still controlling the possession.

Some of the Barcelona players and the fans in the stand are appealing for a penalty after what they saw as a handball in the box. But the officials aren't interested and play continues.

It's the first yellow card of the night and it's shown to Rodrigo for a tackle on de Jong.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 2 Valencia 1 (29 mins - Kevin Gameiro). Valencia are back in this game! We had a lengthy VAR review after Gameiro was initially flagged offside, but he was onside when the pass from Rodrigo was played. The Frenchman finished calmly off the inside of the far post. We have a match again.

Still waiting... VAR review is ongoing. Surely they're going to give this? Gameiro, to the naked eye, looked to be onside!

GOOOOOOOOOO... NO! Valencia think that they have clawed one back. Gameiro was released in behind the Barcelona defence, he finished off the inside of the far post, but the flag was up for offside. I don't know... he looked onside!

Valencia's problems are pretty fundamental here. I haven't seen any possession stats, but they are barely getting on the ball. I'm pretty sure they haven't touched it in two to three minutes.

Arthur scooped a very clever pass through for Semedo to get on the end of in behind, but Cillessen comes off his line to gather and deny his former team a third goal within 25 minutes.

One of the issues for Barcelona last season was they weren't able to cope without Messi. The early signs this season are that Ansu and Griezmann might have given them a safety net.

Chance for the away team! That was a real opportunity for Valencia. Rodrigo played in Gameiro, but the French striker skewed his shot wide under pressure from Semedo. Should have done better.

It feels like we are watching something special tonight. We all knew that Ansu was a talent, but this feels like the moment a truly zeitgeist-setting player announces himself at the top level.

Alba did just enough to put off Rodrigo. The Valencia striker looked almost certain to join Atletico Madrid in the summer, but the move collapsed and so Rodrigo still finds himself at the Mestalla.

SOOOOO CLOSE! That would have been a stunner from Ansu! He moved the ball on to his right foot and curled a strike towards goal, but a slight deflection saw it flash just inches wide. Wow.
