It’s difficult to know what Barcelona can realistically target this season. Would a top four finish in La Liga be considered a relative success given all that they have faced recently?

The TV camera angle wasn't the best, but Memphis certainly looked to be slightly offside when the ball was played into the box by Alba. Maybe there was another angle?

Alba's cross was nudged on by Memphis and de Jong finished into the back of the empty net, but Memphis looked to be ever so slightly offside when the ball came into the box!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... NO! De Jong has the ball in the back of the net for Barcelona, but the goal won't stand. Memphis was offside when the cross was played in.

This has been an entertaining match, but will it produce some goals in the second period? Xavi will surely want to see his team be more clinical in the attacking third.

One wonders what Xavi will make of what he has seen from his team so far. Barcelona started strongly, but they allowed Villarreal back into the match. It's been a strange game.

It's quite remarkable that this match is still goalless given how many chances both teams have created. It has been a very entertaining end-to-end encounter. Just needs some goals!

Volley from Pedraza! It was always going to be difficult for the Villarreal player to send that shot on target, but Pedraza sends a volley towards goal. Ter Stegen watches it flash wide.

Araujo is back on the pitch and he's involved instantly as ter Stegen finds him with a long kick down field. The defender couldn't make the most of the opportunity, though.

Araujo is only just back from injury for Barcelona. The Uruguayan centre back enjoyed a strong start to the season and the Catalans missed him as he was sidelined through October.

Lenglet has been sent to warm up down the touchline by Xavi. It appears Barcelona might be forced into a first half change here, with is a big blow for them and for Araujo.

Araujo is down! This will be a concern to Xavi with Araujo down on the ground after a collission with Pedraza. The Barcelona defender has already missed a spell with injury this season.
