Alan Pardew (Newcastle United): "The position we are in, if I'm honest, is because we used the money from Andy Carroll's sale well. He was a brilliant player for us, but the fee was astronomical. We have used it well and we owe a great debt to him. It's nice to see Kevin come back. He did a super job here. Whatever he was asked to do, he conducted himself well. And he gets a goal. I'm looking forward to seeing them both and I enjoyed working with them. There will be a lot on the game."

Sam Allardyce (West Ham United): "My spell at Newcastle is way in the past and my focus this weekend is more about supporting Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll on their return and helping them deliver a performance back at their former club. I want us to play well on Sunday, not only because it would continue our growth in this League but also for Kevin and Andy. We want to make them our heroes."

Newcastle are 21/20 to win this according to William Hill, with West Ham 5/2 and the draw 12/5. I fancy a tighter game than that suggests. What do you think? Let me know on Twitter @Reda_Eurosport.

Referee today is Mike Dean (Wirral). He has reffed 10 matches this season, showing 36 yellows and two reds. Seven of those matches - and one of those reds - have come in the Premier Leage.

We were talking about the coaches coming back to face former employers, but there are several players in the same boat too. Toon's Demba Ba is an ex-Hammer, while the East London side have former Toon stars Andy Carroll and Kevin Nolan in their starting XI.

James Tomkins comes through a late fitness test to partner Winston Reid in central defence. James Collins is also passed fit but he is on the bench. Full-back Guy Demel has returned to training following a hernia problem but Matthew Taylor (calf), Ricardo Vaz Te (shoulder) and Jack Collison (knee) remain sidelined.
14:30
Mike Williamson comes in for the suspended Fabricio Coloccini for Newcastle. Shane Ferguson also gets a start with Gabriel Obertan dropping to the bench. Cheick Tiote is also suspended while James Perch (thigh) is out for up to six weeks, but Danny Simpson is back from a shoulder injury and the likes of Hatem Ben Arfa restored to the XI after being rested for the Europa League draw at Brugges.

Toon boss Pardew was West Ham manager for three years between 2003-06, taking them back into the Premier League and an FA Cup final. Allardyce, meanwhile, was only given half a season as Toon boss by then new-chairman Mike Ashley, sacked with the club in the top half of the table in what is widely regarded to have been a major error. The club were soon relegated - sound familiar Blackburn fans? Never sack The Big Sam!
