Great chance for Newcastle! Cabaye's corner is superb and right on Debuchy's head - and his glancing header flashes clean across the face of goal. That looked like it was going to go in - Debuchy can't believe he missed that one.

Great run by Debuchy up the right to chase Anita's long ball - and Debuchy's attempt to cut it into the box is guided off for a corner...
18'
Half-chance for Palace as the ball is pinged into the box - but Chamakh is penalised for a pointless push on Mike Williamson. Waste of a tricky-looking ball.

Newcastle try to push forward, but they keep running into a sea of red and blue shirts; Cabaye clips it over the top to Remy to try and solve that problem, but Remy is flagged offside.

Bannan's strike was good, but there just wasn't much venom in that one. Still the first clear chance of the game to the hosts, though.

Bannan takes the free kick - and he has a crack at goal! It's a solid effort, curled straight at the top right corner with his left foot - but Tim Krul saw it all the way and takes a comfortable save.

Chamakh goes flying under a challenge from Anita - looked a crazy dive at first, but replays show the ref was right to give a free kick. 28yds out, just on the right...
13'
Alan Pardew - a former Palace legend of the famous 1990 FA Cup run and 1990-91 third-in-the-league teams - looking stern as his men fail to make any headway with another move. Davide Santon tries a blunderbus effort from 30 yards, but it's well wide.
12'
Tony Pulis squinting through the rain to see Speroni hit a ball out of hand - and straight into the other box. He's got a big boot on him, but that wind is STRONG!
11'
Newcastle have 65 per cent of possession so far!
10'
Remy has a battle with Gabbidon as he tries to get into the box - ball goes off for a Newcastle throw, and there's a chance for Newcastle! Anita puts a cross in that finds Gouffran, but Mariappa cuts the ball out before it reaches Gouffran.
9'
Newcastle try to hit on the break, but Gouffran's effort is straight at Speroni; good pressure from Gabbidon helped put the striker off.
8'
Good work by Jerome tracking back - he takes the ball and opens up an attacking move that almost sees Chamakh beat three men. The ball falls to Puncheon who gets a shot in - but it's deflected away by Coloccini.
7'
Newcastle enjoying the majority of possession so far - Camerone Jerome goes down briefly after a head clash with Coloccini. Coloccini didn't feel a thing!
6'
Newcastle get the ball into the box, but Gouffran is penalised for a push and it's a free kick to Palace to relieve the pressure.
5'
Joel Ward is playing in midfield for Palace today - clearly an attempt to keep Newcastle's strong midfield quiet.
4'
Jason Puncheon gets the ball up the left for Palace, but can't get the ball in the box.
3'
Palace have a free kick just in their own half - Delaney will thump it into the box... but it goes off tamely for a goal kick.
2'
Ridiculously windy at Selhurst Park today, and rain pouring down too - players will probably try plenty of long-range shots given that the ball could go anywhere. Nothing exiting happening so far though: just plenty of midfield pinball so far.

The match kicks off at Selhurst Park, with Palace looking to make it three consecutive home wins.

Marouane Chamakh has three goals in three games for Palace - if the home side are to win today he will surely be their key man.
