No chances yet, and both teams playing as badly as they did in the first half.

Fletcher makes a terrible pass and Stoke get to break forward.

We inch towards the conclusion of the match, and indeed the world, as the second half starts.

Celustka, who is apparently on the pitch, has a cross headed behind by N'Zonzi. Sunderland take a corner, Johnson sends it in, and John O'Shea hits the ball into the sky and it's cleared. The referee blows for half time, and I will see you in 15 minutes.

Into the first of two added minutes this half, and Stoke are happy to keep possesion, probably right to assume Sunderland have little to threaten them with. Mannone claims a knock down.

A rare Sunderland chance as Johnson whacks the ball well over from distance. Desperate stuff.

Sunderland keep the ball, but Stoke have an extra man and are able to cover fairly easily.

A Cameron cross from the right is too long for Crouch to get his head to. Stoke now with the ball in defence, inching forward.

The corner ends with the ball played all the way back to the 'keeper. Larsson is having a big laugh, which I can't imagine Poyet will find especially endearing. Stoke have a free kick around the halfway line, which comes to nothing.

Giaccherini is replaced by Roberge

Play restarts an Sunderland break down the right. Giaccherini is tackled and Sunderland have the corner.

He wins the ball, but his feet are off the floor and clearly reckless. Gus Poyet is absolutely furious, but he's wrong.

Wes Brown charges through Charlie Adam. Winning the ball, and getting sent off!

The ball is headed straight out, and Adam sends in a right-footed cross which is again cleared. Stoke maintain possession around the box, and Crouch handballs an overhead kick from Shawcross, as he can't get to it any other way.

Brown heads Cameron's whipped cross from the right away and behind for a corner.

Sunderland move the ball from left to right, but send a low ball forward out of play.

Sunderland have the ball back and persist with their patient build-up play, Crouch conceding a foul on the halfway line with a trip on Colback.

Sunderland can't hit back quickly, losing the ball right away, and Stoke fling the ball away.

GOAL! Stoke City 1-0 Sunderland. N'Zonzi runs onto a chipped ball over his shoulder on the right. He spins around in the box, and pulls the ball back to Charlie Adam who slots the ball past Mannone.
