Southampton have picked up where they left off, sitting deep and picking Stoke apart on the break.

An Arnautovic free-kick is whipped right into the mixer, but the referee spots an infringement and blows his whistle just before the ball floats into the gloves of Forster.

Southampton get the game back underway.

The whistle goes to send Southampton in two goals to the good at the Britannia. The Stoke City players take their time leaving the field, preparing themselves for the inevitable Mark Hughes tongue-lashing.

Long gets in behind the Stoke defence and squares it for Tadic. The midfielder cuts inside to wrong-foot the covering defenders and leave Butland on his backside, but he takes an age to pull the trigger and has it taken off his toes. That should have been 3-0.

We're into added time at the end of a first half. Southampton are in control of this game, but Stoke have had more possession and more of the ball in their opponents' half.

Pelle has had a great first-half, but an air shot on the edge of the box takes the shine off it slightly. He's on a hat-trick remember.

Afellay catches Tadic with a rushed challenge and is fortunate to escape a booking. The referee has been extremely lenient in this first half.

Wollscheid slams a horror shot over the bar and Hughes simply raises an eyebrow in the dugout. Is he saving up his rage for half-time?

Afellay drops a shoulder and then runs virtually the entire length of the pitch with the ball at his feet, only for Targett to slide in and put the ball out for a throw. That's more like it though - the Potters need some inspiration like that.

Southampton pour forward again and the ball breaks for Romeu to have a pop from distance, but his shot slides high and wide as his teammates give him disapproving looks.

This has not been a good afternoon for Mark Hughes. His side have been completely outplayed, are 2-0 down, and now have Shaqiri in the dugout with an ice pack on his thigh.

Shaqiri has picked up an injury and is replaced by Bojan.

Arnautovic curls a free-kick wide after a brief delay while Long complained about the application of the vanishing spray.

Pelle did all of the hard work for that goal, chasing down the loose ball and linking up brilliantly with Tadic on the edge of the box to create the space for a shot.

GOOOAAALLL!!! Pelle makes it 2-0 to Southampton, curling a shot past the despairing dive of Butland after neat interplay out on the left flank.
