Varane is needed to head clear in front of his own goal, with Emenike set to head home a cross. The flag is up for offside but the French defender wasn't to know that. He looks to have injured himself though.

Here's a statistic for you. France haven't conceded in the first half of 19 of their last 20 games in all competitions. The last team to score against them in the opening 45 minutes was Belarus in September 2013.

Valbuena whips a wonderful corner kick into the six yard box, but the ball flies just over the head of Koscielny, who was waiting for it to meet his head on the jump. Not much in that.

Debuchy and Mikel clash going in for a tackle, with the two players clashing knees. The Nigerian is down on the ground receiving treatment but there's nothing to suggest it's a serious injury.

Mikel has been impressive for Nigeria, as he has ben throughout this World Cup. Why doesn't this player turn up for Chelsea?

Nigeria win a corner, and as was the case so many times in the first half, the delivery from Odemwingie is really poor, with France clearing their lines at the front post. Must do better!

France come forward straight off the kick-off, but Odemwingie takes a risk in his own box and finds himself dispossessed by Giroud. However, the Arsenal striker's cross is too strong for anyone.

HALF TIME: France 0-0 Nigeria. Both sides have looked dangerous on the counter attack, with Nigeria playing their part in what has been a compelling contest. However, France's midfield has probably seen them edge it.

Pogba sparks a really dangerous counter attack with a cutting pass. Valbuena waits for the run of Benzema to pull away a defender before picking out Giroud, but the striker's header is poor and the keper gathers with ease.

Emenike lines up a shot from the edge of the box and rifles in an effort towards Lloris, who beats the ball away. Moses latches onto the rebound, but the flag is up for offside. Good effort.

Mark Geiger, the referee, stops play for the second time as there are two balls on the field. Stop throwing balls on the pitch ballboys! You have literally one job. Just don't do it all the time!

Evra gets round the back to the byline and squares a pass back into the box. Mikel then slices his cleareance high into the air, but fortunately for the Nigerian number 10 it lands in Enyeama's hands.

Good chance for France! Matuidi comes steaming forward from the centre of midfield, skipping past tackles before passing to Valebuena, who in turns plays it to Debuchy on the edge of the box. But the right back puts his shot wide of the target.

Moses swings a cross into the French box from the right side but it drifts out the other side and away for a goal kick. Replays show that Evra had his arms all over Odemwingie. The left back was lucky to get away with that!
