Hello and welcome to LIVE text commentary of the 2016 Australian Open men's semi final between reigning champion, Novak Djokovic and 17-time Grand Slam winner, Roger Federer. The victor in this titanic tussle will face Andy Murray or Milos Raonic in Sunday's final.

DJOKOVIC 6-1 6-2 0-1 FEDERER. More screams of 'C'mon' from Federer. The crowd are doing their best to try and lift him. The Swiss gets on the board and edges in front in the third with a hold to 30. Djoker's level seemed to finally drop ever so slightly in that game... Glimmer for Fed?

Djokovic races into 3-0 lead in first set

SET! - DJOKOVIC 6-1 6-2 FEDERER. It's a love hold and after just 54 minutes Nole is honing in on another Australian Open final. The pundits were all claiming Federer needed to win the first set to have chance. It'll be one of the greatest comebacks of all-time if he recovers from here. A more realistic target is to make this third set more competitive, but that's easier said than done with the way the world number one is playing.

DJOKOVIC 6-1 5-2 FEDERER. Roger is forced to work extremely hard just to pull off a hold and avoid another breadstick. Djoker makes deuce with a stunning backhand pass and has two chances to secure the set with another break, but can't quite make it happen despite another corking winner off the forehand. Federer digs ever so deep and comes through the game but it is surely just delaying the inevitable. Djokovic to serve for a two-set lead.

DJOKOVIC 6-1 5-1 FEDERER. Too good. Djokovic's timing; the precision and venom with which he is hitting the ball is just too much for Federer. The Swiss is trying to keep up but can't get near his opponent often enough. It's a hold to 15 and the second set is almost wrapped up for Nole.

BREAK! - DJOKOVIC 6-1 4-1 FEDERER. Incredible. You simply run out of superlatives for just how good Djokovic has been. He's making Federer look like a qualifier. It's another devastating dissection of the Fed-Ex serve. The Swiss can only prod a weak shot into the net as he drops serve once more. Djoker drove a deep shot into the Swiss Maestro's feet as he loses the game to 15.

DJOKOVIC 6-1 3-1 FEDERER. Roger gets a couple of moments of joy to make it a bit more interesting, but the Serb keeps hitting some big first serves and consolidates with another to hold to 30. Breathtaking stuff from the reigning champion. Contrast today's Djoker with the one that struggled against Simon - worlds apart! No wonder Federer has been blown away.

BREAK! - DJOKOVIC 6-1 2-1 FEDERER. It's quite incredible how Federer can look imperious against pretty much everyone on tour - apart from Djokovic. The Serbinator owns Fed-Ex on his serve once more, breaking to love when the Swiss unsuccessfully challenges a long call on a desperate forehand to the baseline. If Djokovic maintains this irresistible form, this match is going to be over much faster than anyone anticipated.

DJOKOVIC 6-1 1-1 FEDERER. In... the... zone... Djokovic shows no sign off dropping off as he seals another love hold with a blistering pass into the open court. Federer was nowhere near it. That pretty much sums up the match so far.

DJOKOVIC 6-1 0-1 FEDERER. A huge hold for Roger. The Swiss looks up against it once more as Djoker piles on the pressure at 15-30 and 30-40. The Swiss screams 'C'mon' as he despatches a forehand to make deuce before another big forehand and a wide crosscourt attempt from Nole sees the Swiss rally to get his nose in front in the second. There's no doubt about it; he REALLY needed that.

SET! - DJOKOVIC 6-1 FEDERER. It's taken just 22 minutes for Djokovic to quite literally dismantle Federer. The Serb makes another ridiculous crosscourt winner on his way to two set points. Federer earns a brief respite with his own explosive pass, but it does little to affect Nole who lashes a big serve down the middle T that Roger can't retrieve.

BREAK! - DJOKOVIC 5-1 FEDERER. Wow. Talk about saving your best for the big occasion. Djokovic's returning has been on another level. The Serb forces Fed-Ex to fizz long to tee up double break point before another brilliant return, that most players wouldn't get near, sets up a barnstorming rally where the world number one outlasts his opponent in the trade-off from the baseline. Djoker to serve for the first set!
