DJOKOVIC 3-0 MEDVEDEV
Daniil shows some jet-paced wheels to storm into the forecourt and rattle away a couple of crosscourt passes.
Djokovic looks quite keen to regularly deploy the serve and volley tactic and quickly sets about turning the game around, once again outlasting his opponent in a lung-bursting rally before a clutch serve and a second ace of the match help him consolidate from 0-30 down.

BREAK! – DJOKOVIC 2-0 MEDVEDEV
Medvedev makes life difficult for himself with a backhand miscue and a double fault, but it’s a sizzling forehand winner up the line that snares triple break point for the 23-time major winner.
Medvedev can’t even wipe out one as he slaps a forehand long to give Djokovic the perfect start.

DJOKOVIC 1-0 MEDVEDEV
Djokovic prevails in two exhaustingly good rallies, moving 30-15 up with a rasping backhand winner down the line.
The Serb then misses the same shot by a whisker to pique Daniil’s interest at 30-30 but a couple of aces down the T ensure the No.2 seed opens in positive fashion.

HERE THEY COME!
The players have arrived on court and the singles finale to the 2023 US Open is almost upon us with the roof sadly closed.
It's worth nothing that both players are pretty imperious when they win the first set so the opener could be key today.
Djokovic is 72-1 at the US Open when winning the first set with his only loss to Stan Wawrinka in the 2016 final.
Medvedev is 47-1 this season when picking up the opening set with his lone defeat coming to Mannarino at ‘s-Hertogenbosch 2R in June.

REMEMBERING 2021: MEDVEDEV STUNS DJOKOVIC TO LAND MAIDEN MAJOR
Daniil Medvedev produced a stunning display to win his first major title and deny Novak Djokovic a historic calendar grand slam.
Here's how we called the men's singles final two years ago.

MEDVEDEV AIMING TO MATCH FEAT FOR FIRST TIME IN 48 YEARS
A victory for Daniil would see him become the first player to beat the No. 1 and 2 seeds en route to the US Open title since 1975 when No. 3 Manuel Orantes beat No. 2 Vilas in the semi-finals and No. 1 Connors in the final.
The Russian is also hoping to beat Djokovic back-to-back for the first time in their rivalry.

EVERGREEN - IS DJOKOVIC GETTING BETTER AND BETTER WITH AGE?
Djokovic is 11-3 in Grand Slam finals in his 30s after clocking up a less impressive success rate of 12-9 record in his 20s (though he was playing the likes of Federer, Nadal and Murray in their prime then).
The Serb is also hoping to become the first man to win three Grand Slam events in a season for the fourth time (2011, 2015, 2021 ... 2023???).
Of course, a fourth US Open crown of his career would also see Nole equal Margaret Court’s record for most Grand Slam singles titles in tennis history (24).

DJOKOVIC HOPING TO MAKE EVERY MOMENT COUNT AS FATHER TIME LOOMS
"At 36, every Grand Slam final could be the last one. So, I think that I probably value these occasions and opportunities to win another Slam more than maybe 10 years ago, because 10 years ago I felt like, ‘hey, I still have quite a few years ahead of me'.
“I don't know how many I have ahead of me now, or how many of the years where I play four Slams in the whole season in front of me."

HEAD-TO-HEAD
Nole leads the match-up 9-5 but Medvedev did win the most recent encounter in Dubai earlier this year.
Djokovic has also won four of the last five meetings since losing to Daniil in straight sets in the final here two years ago.

GOOD EVENING
Hello and welcome to LIVE updates of the 2023 US Open men’s singles final between World No.2 Novak Djokovic and World No.3 Daniil Medvedev.
Will it be a fourth title in Flushing Meadows for Djoker and a record-equalling 24th major in the sport? Or will Medvedev upset the Serb again just like he did in 2021 when the Russian denied Nole the calendar Grand Slam and lifted his first and only major to-date?
The players are due on court from 21.00 BST.
