In his first official outing in the Renault Sport Trophy, Pieter Schothorst (Equipe Verschuur) posted the fastest time in the Renault Sport Trophy collective tests. At Silverstone, the Dutch driver led from his brother and leader in the Elite classification, Steijn Schothorst (Equipe Verschuur) and David Fumanelli (Oregon Team). In the “Prestige” category, Richard Gonda (ART Junior Team) dominated the two sessions ahead of Jeroen Schothorst (Equipe Verschuur) and Dario Capitanio (Oregon Team).
The #6 Oregon Team pairing of Luciano Bacheta and Niccolò Naliò came up victors in the Renault Sport Trophy Endurance race at Silverstone this Saturday. Starting from pole, the duo led from start to finish to take their first win of the season ahead of David Fumanelli and Dario Capitanio, who retain the lead in the general classification, and Indy Dontje and Toni Forné (ART Junior Team #3).
The much-anticipated return of the World Series by Renault to Silverstone concluded with the successes of Niccolò Nalio and Pieter Schothorst in the Renault Sport Trophy sprint races. Already a victor on Saturday in the Endurance race, Niccolò Nalio ran the table in winning the Prestige Sprint race ahead of Dario Capitanio and Toni Forné. The Italian is now two points adrift of leader Diederik Sijthoff (V8 Racing), with Dario Capitanio sandwiched between the two. In the afternoon in the Elite category, Pieter Schothorst won in his first weekend in the discipline against Indy Dontje and Nicky Pastorelli (V8 Racing). Despite dropping out, Steijn Schothorst (Equipe Verschuur) is still in command of the category with a 28 point lead.
