While his Silverstone weekend came to an end at the first corner, Steijn Schothorst (Equipe Verschuur) bounced back strong during the collective tests for the Renault Sport Trophy at the Nürburgring. Leader of the Elite category, the Dutchman set best time of the day at 1:53.616, more than a half-second quicker than twice second fastest, Andrea Pizzitola (ART Junior Team). Winner in Endurance last weekend, Luciano Bacheta (Oregon Team) was third best. In Prestige, Richard Gonda (ART Junior Team) dominated the two sessions ahead of Dario Capitanio (Oregon Team) and Max Braams (V8 Racing).
The Dutch pair of Roy Geerts and Max Braams (V8 Racing #4) scored their maiden win in the Renault Sport Trophy during the Endurance race at the Nürburgring. Starting from pole, the 2013 Formula Renault 1.6 NEC Junior champion held on to the lead before handing off to Max Braams. While he lost the lead in the pits, Max Braams returned to the sharp end of the order to take the chequered flag ahead of David Fumanelli and Dario Capitanio (Oregon Team #8), who still lead the general classification and the tandem of Andrea Pizzitola and Richard Gonda (ART Junior Team #2).
Andrea Pizzitola and Dario Capitanio each scored their maiden Sprint wins in the Renault Sport Trophy on Sunday. The Frenchman took the laurels in Sprint Elite ahead of Steijn Schothorst and Indy Dontje (ART Junior Team), and is now 10 points adrift of Schothorst in the general classification. Earlier in the day, Dario Capitanio won for the first time this season in Sprint Prestige ahead of Niccolò Nalio (Oregon Team) and Max Braams and is the new leader of the category.
