Bayern had a two-on-one! Lewandowski decided to take on the AEK Athens defender himself when he had Robben alongside him! He would have been clean through had he made the pass.

Will Bayern Munich start to get nervous if this scoreline stays this way well into the second half? They need to create more in the final third of the pitch. AEK are holding them at arm's length.

James gets his foot round it! He scored one of those against the USA in the international break, but this time James sees his curling effort from outside the box saved by Barkas.

Bayern Munich have been the better team in this first half so far, but AEK Athens are surely pleased with how few scoring opportunities they have given up to the German champions.

Thiago should have taken the shot! The Spanish international burst into the opposition box and had the chance to shoot. But he attempts to play an impossible pass to Lewandowski. Wrong decision.

There's been a goal in the other early kick off being played in the Champions League this evening, with Batshuayi giving Valencia the lead against Young Boys. Still no goals here, though.

You can see in the play of the home side in the last five minutes or so that they are growing in confidence. AEK Athens are beginning to play with the ball at their feet.

That was a slight concern for Bayern Munich. Thiago hit the ground after a clash with an AEK Athens player. He received some treatment, but is going to be fine to continue here.

Hmmm that was interesting. Robben created a crossing opportunity there, but there was nobody in the middle for him to aim for. Bayern Munich are looking light in the final third.

There is a sense that AEK Athens are starting to come into the match in the last few minutes. They have weathered the early storm and are now making an impression on the counter.

Ponce on the half volley! That's the closest AEK Athens have come so far. Ponce got in behind with Hummels, who was sluggish, and fired off a shot. Neuer might have had it covered, but it flashes wide of the near post.

Almost an own goal! That's the closest we have come to an opener in Athens! Gnabry's cross was heading for Robben at the far post, but Chygrynskiy's slide tackle sends the ball just wide of the post.

Lewandowski is starting to get himself involved in the game more now, which is a good sign for Bayern Munich. They are at their best when the Polish striker is in top form.

While Bayern Munich are undoubtedly on top at the moment, AEK Athens are doing a reasonable job of plugging the gaps at the back. Their defence is holding firm for the moment.

Gnabry has certainly been the most dangerous player for Bayern Munich in the opening exchanges of this match. The former Arsenal man is giving AEK Athens something to think about.
