Fleck has been favoured over Christie over this game by Clarke. The former Rangers midfielder has been in good form for Sheffield United in the Premier League. This is his international debut.

The appointment of Clarke as Scotland manager at the end of last season was universally popular, but the former Kilmarnock boss has yet to improve the national team's form.

First chance for Russia! Fernandes' cross from the right is deflected to the back post where Kudryashov was waiting, but the left back lashed his volley high and wide of the target.

Chance on the counter! All of a sudden, things opened up for Scotland on the break. Snodgrass was 30 yards out, but clean through. Dzhikiya came across to make the tackle for Russia.

Both sides are just feeling their way into this match. Russia are seeing the majority of the ball, which is to be expected. Scotland on the other hand are trying to hit out on the counter.

Scotland have been on the end of some rough treatment in the early stages of this match. This time it's Snodgrass who is very crudely brought down the centre circle.

Dzyuba was very impressive in the qualifier against Scotland at Hampden Park. He found the back of the net and was a thorn in the side of the Scottish defence all night long.

After this, Scotland face San Marino at Hampden Park. Things have been tough for Clarke and his players since he took over as manager of the national team. That one should be a bit easier, though.

Burke is playing the lone forward role for Scotland this evening. McBurnie pulled out of the squad through injury and Griffiths still isn't ready to return to the national team fold. Bare bones.

Robertson is cleaned out as he surged down the left wing. Burke isn't happy because he feels Scotland should have been able to continue, but the freekick is given by the referee.

As mentioned in the build up, this is about building momentum and saving face for Scotland who are currently slumped in second last place in this Euro 2020 qualification group.
