GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 1 (9 mins - Lionel Messi) Sporting Gijon 0. That's just too easy! Messi gets on the end of a long ball over the top from Mascherano, lobbing a cheeky header over Cuellar, who was miles off his line. He was onside, that's for sure. 1-0 to Barca.

It was a similar story against Leganes the game before, when Messi also had to score a stoppage time winner to see Barcelona emerge with all three points. They are stuttering.

Barcelona got away with one against Atletico Madrid at the weekend. They were outplayed for large spells of the match, but Messi netted a late winner to give them three points.

This has been a low key start to the match by both teams. They are feeling each other out, but Barcelona are seeing more of the possession, as you would expect.

It actually looks like Barcelona have started this match with a three-man defence. That's what they did against Atletico Madrid before changing it midway through the game.

Rafinha is playing at right back following the injury of Vidal, which will rule him out for the rest of the season. Barca actually have permission to sign a right back on an emergency deal until March 10.

NOT FAR WIDE! Messi's pass into Rafinha creates some space for the makeshift right back, but he curls his right footed shot high and wide of the far post. It wasn't too far away.

There's still no Iniesta for Barcelona in the centre of midfield. Rafinha looks to be playing at right back this evening. I'm not sure I've ever seen him play in that position.

This is the first of three pivotal fixtures for Barcelona. They have Celta Vigo at the weekend, and then they face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last 16.

This is a big match for Sporting Gijon as well, but they might be playing this game with one eye on the weekend, when they will play Deportivo La Coruna in a relegation six-pointer.

Of course, Barcelona will be strong favourites for this match, but Enrique's side haven't been at their best in recent weeks. Messi has dug them out with late winners in their last two games.
