Well, Real Madrid salvage a point in the end thanks to that late goal from Ronaldo. But it wasn't exactly the sort of result Zidane would have wanted from his team ahead of next week's Champions League semi final first leg against Bayern Munich. They were the better team for the most part, but struggled to break down a stubborn Athletic Bilbao defence.

Finally, Aduriz comes on for Athletic Bilbao. They need him to hold up the ball.

Real Madrid fail to make the most of a freekick in a dangerous position. Kroos decided to play it short rather than play it into the box and Isco's return pass is cut out. Poor.

De Marcos is shown a yellow card for a push on Marcelo.

It's just cross after cross from Real Madrid. They keep playing the ball to the byline and testing the Athletic Bilbao defence with crosses. They'll be quite happy having to deal with that.

That's a disappointing cross from Bale. The Welsh winger did well to get in behind the Athletic Bilbao defence and stretch the pitch, but he let himself down he tried to cross it.

Still no way through for Real Madrid. It's not that they have played badly. They just haven't been able to find a way through this Athletic defence, although they have dropped off in the second half.

Susaeta comes on for Athletic Bilbao. He replaces Lekue for the away side.

This is backs to the wall stuff from Athletic Bilbao. Real Madrid have really cranked thing up since the changes. They are camped right on the edge of the opposition penalty area.

It's surprising that we haven't seen Aduriz come off the bench for the away side yet. They have nobody up front to hold up the ball when they win it and look to play out from the back.

This Athletic Bilbao team are showing some real fight at the back. But I wonder for how much longer they can hold out in the face of this relentless pressure from Real Madrid.
