Carvajal seems to have recovered and is back on the pitch. He gets some warm applause from the Santiago Bernabeu crowd. They recognise the problems he had earlier this season.

CARVAJAL INJURY? This is a worrying one for the Real Madrid right back. He seems to have a chest issue and that's a concern given the troubles he had earlier in the season.

GOOD SAVE! Kepa needed to make that stop to prevent Real Madrid from netting an equaliser. It was Varane who got on the end of Kroos' freekick. Powerful header, but good save.

There's the first round of boos and whistles for Benzema from the home crowd inside the Santiago Bernabeu. The Frenchman has become a bit of a target over the last few weeks and months.

POOR FROM BENZEMA! Vazquez does well to create the chance for the French striker on the edge of the box, but he somehow manages to scoop his finish well over the target.

Ronaldo looks really sharp as the focal point of Real Madrid's attack. He's just waiting for that one golden opportunity having hit the crossbar earlier in the match. Very lively.

The problem for Athletic Bilbao is that they don't have much of an outlet when they do win the ball back. Williams has been quiet despite scoring the opening goal of the game.

Carvajal feeds the cross into Benzema, who darts to the front post, but the French striker couldn't get enough of a connection on it to force it towards the Athletic Bilbao goal.

Real Madrid don't have a Liga game this weekend, so they will have a few days off. They were set to face Sevilla, but they will be playing Barcelona in the final of the Copa del Rey.

This is relentless pressure from Real Madrid at the moment. They have been well on top for the majority of the match but showed their weakness at the back in conceding that goal.

ASENSIO SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER! That was far too easy for Real Madrid to create that opportunity. Ronaldo played the ball back to Asensio, who was free. From 18 yards he blasts over, though.

MARCELO STRIKE! Kepa had to keep his eye on that in the Athletic Bilbao goal! The strike from Marcelo from the edge of the penalty box was a pure one. He struck it so well!

The way Real Madrid were cut open so easily by that pass from Cordoba for the goal will be a concern to Zidane ahead of next week's Champions League semi final against Bayern.

NOW A RAMOS HEADER! Real Madrid play the corner kick short, with the cross eventually slung into the box. Ramos was pretty much free, but he heads straigh at Kepa.

ANOTHER RONALDO EFFORT! Once again, the Portuguese forward gets a shot away on goal. Kepa got down well to save the first time shot from Ronaldo. There might have been a deflection too!

Just at the point Real Madrid looked to be taking a grip of the match, creating a number of chances of their own, Athletic Bilbao break away and score a wonderful opener. Great goal.
