Solari will be slightly disappointed with the way Real Madrid played in the second half, but they were very impressive in the first half and got the job done with a 2-0 win. The result might have been different had Valencia taken their chances. Real are back on the straight and narrow, though.

Real Madrid needed this win. This at least puts some pressure on Barcelona ahead of their game tomorrow evening. It's so tight up near the top of the Spanish Liga table this season.

Isco drives up the pitch and then slips at just the wrong moment. That won't help things. There's speculation that he might even leave Real Madrid in the January transfer window.

All of a sudden the tempo and intensity has dropped out of this game. Real Madrid have the points secured and Valencia know it. The hosts are passing it out in the final few minutes.

It could be argued that Valencia have been the better team in this second half, but it's Real Madrid who have put this game to bed with a second goal. They took their chance.

That was fantastic full back play by Carvajal. He took Real Madrid about 60 yards up the field, from front to back. That put his team on the front foot. Carvajal has been exceptional.

The ball is recycled by Benzema, who plays it square for Vazquez to finish into the net with the inside of his left foot. That's game over.

Isco could really use a good performance in these final few minutes that he has been thrown on for. His future at Real Madrid is up in the air at the moment. He's not been playing.

There's just under 10 minutes left to play - is there one last big moment remaining in this match? Will Real Madrid find a second goal to kill it? Or will the Valencia equaliser come?

Here comes Isco, finally. He comes on to replace Ceballos for the final 10 minutes.

Batshuayi was clean through! The Belgian wriggles his way through the Real Madrid defence, but is stopped by Courtois, who makes a huge save. The flag was up for offside, but the replays show it would have stood.

Isco and Vinicius have been sent to go warm up by Solari. Real Madrid only have one remaining change to make, so who will get the nod - the out of favour playmaker or the Brazilian teenager?

On comes Batshuayi for Valencia. Will the Belgian give them more cutting edge for these final 15 minutes or so?

Asensio should score! That was an opportunity for Real Madrid to put some daylight between themselves and Valencia. Llorente put it on a plate for him, but Asensio fires straight at a defender when he had the whole goal to aim for.
