Benzema could use a goal this evening. The Frenchman has fared rather better under Solari than he did under Lopetegui, but he still needs to show more of a cutting edge in front of goal.

Soler was looking for the run of Mina in behind the Real Madrid defence. The ball was just slightly too strong, and bounces through to Courtois. That's where Valencia have been lacking so far - the final ball.

Real Madrid look comfortable in this game at the moment. Even when Valencia have the ball, there's nothing to suggest they will cause the home side problem. Very static for the visitors.

This midfield shape is much more suited to Real Madrid's natural quality. They look so much better for having a holding midfielder like Llorente in the centre of the pitch.

There's lots of space for Real Madrid to exploit in behind Gaya. Valencia look quite vulnerable at the back, which is a problem because they are being asked to do a lot of defending early on.

What is noticeable about this Real Madrid performance in the early stages of this match is the pace at which they are playing. They were sluggish against Eibar. Nothing like that here, so far.

So how will that goal change the game? Valencia have been on the back foot since the very first whistle. Will that goal relax Real Madrid or will the away side come out their shell?

There are a few empty seats in the stands at the Santiago Bernabeu this evening. Could it be the cold that is putting fans off? Or the poor form of their team in recent weeks and months?

This has been a good start to the match from Real Madrid. They are playing with high intensity and are hassling and harrying Valencia whenever the away side have the ball.

That will be a worry for Paulista. He will have to play the rest of the match on a booking. Yikes.

Llorente has been given a chance in the centre of the Real Madrid midfield due to injuries. This is an opportunity that the young midfielder must take with both hands.

Real Madrid have been extremely inconsistent over the early part of the season, so what will we see from the European champions this evening? Their fans expect improvement.
