Wales kick us off in this Group D Nations League clash

With just five minutes to kick off, both sides have emerged from the tunnel and are ready to sing their respective anthems. The decibel levels are about to go through the roof here in Cardiff…

Poland look to extend their lead at the top of their Nations League group when they take on Belgium, who were humbled by the Netherlands last week.

Wales have lost all eight of their previous games against the Netherlands, most recently in a 2015 friendly, losing 3-2 at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Tonight the Netherlands are aiming to extend a 10-match unbeaten run. In his third spell in charge Louis Van Gaal has yet to suffer a defeat.

They kicked off their Nations League campaign with an impressive 4-1 win against Belgium on Friday, thanks to goals from Bergwijn, Dumfries and Depay.

With just a handful of games to go before the World Cup in November they’re finding form at the perfect time.

Van Gaal revealed in April he was receiving treatment for prostate cancer, which he later confirmed had been successful. He is however keen to avoid the spotlight and distract his group’s World Cup preparations.

He said: "It's not the moment to speak about my disease but I can assure you I can manage, because this group is a present for me. In my career, I have never coached such a group.

"The result against Belgium was fantastic but we have to look forward and develop a team for the World Cup."

Before kick off Page promised a blend of youth and experience in light of last Sunday’s physically and emotionally taxing encounter 1-0 over Ukraine.

Before kick-off he told the press: "We want to win games so it's about getting a balance.

"We're not in this competition to just make the numbers up and purely expose our younger players - we want to win games as well.

"Is it realistic to ask some of the senior players to go again in quick succession? Probably not. When you look at the importance of that [Ukraine] game and the emotion of it, that saps the life out of you. So we have to be respectful of that. I think you'll see a blend."

Bale and Ramsey make way for some of Wales’ less experienced contingent, including Nottingham Forest forward Johnson and Fulham midfielder Wilson.

Meanwhile the Netherlands are without Van Dijk, who has been given a holiday, with de Vrij recalled in the Liverpool star’s absence, while the in-form Depay and De Jong are named on the bench.
