FULL TIME: Germany 2 -1 Algeria. GERMANY ARE INTO THE WORLD CUP QUARTER-FINALS. But boy, did Algeria make them work for it.

Slimani comes within inches of going through on goal, but Boateng times his tackle brilliantly and stops the counter attack before it can become a real problem.

First Kramer is played in behind the Algerian defence, but his shot from a tight angle is saved by the keeper. Then Muller rounds M'Bohli but can't find a teammate from the byline with the cut back.

Several German and Algerian players suffering cramp on a regular basis now. It has already claimed Halliche for the Algerians. There are dead men not just walking, but running out there!

Algeria are pushing everyone but Bougherra for these attacks now. They're going for it, as they have done all night. They deserve a goal. There I said it. It will be a shame if they come out of this having failed to find the net.

Djabou is released up the left wing before slinging a cross into the box for Soudani and Slimani to attack, but Mertesacker manages to get a flicked header on it to clear the danger.

All Algeria need is one clearcut chance. For all their attacking intent and threat going forward, that's what they've been waiting for all night. Just one chance to find the net and take this to penalties.

Germany are just starting to sit a bit deeper and invite pressure on top of themselves as this game comes to a close. Algeria are pushing higher and higher up the pitch, with Bougherra joining in the action.

Feghouli doesn't quite get the delivery right from the freekick, with Soudani and Slimani given no chance of getting on the end of it. Neuer gathered with ease despite the ball bouncing at his feet.

That was a really cynical foul by Lahm. He's been beaten by Djabou, but the German full-back turned midfielder tripped him up to prevent him from getting any closer to goal.
