Remarkable scenes saw Xiao Guodong punished for arriving late and Michael White swiftly beat his opponent, taking full advantage of the 2-0 headstart. Jamie Jones was left feeling nervous after going two frames down in qualifying for his home event, the Welsh Open, but recovered to progress. The main draw for the tournament runs between February 28 and March 5 at Celtic Manor.

Vafaei's miracle moment: Is this the most incredible shot in history?

Michael White found himself two frames up before he had even played a shot in remarkable scenes at the Welsh Open qualifiers after Xiao Guodong arrived late to the match.
The Chinese player turned up 18 minutes late to the Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton, after being caught in heavy traffic due to issues caused by Storm Eunice.
Snooker fans watching the action - or lack of it - on Eurosport, were soon notified that the first frame had been awarded to White, before the scoreboard changed to 2-0 just over five minutes later, with Guodong given the penalties due to his lateness.
The wait did not impact on White’s focus as, when play finally got underway, he took just 37 minutes to wrap up the remaining two frames in a 4-0 whitewash.
Welshman Jamie Jones fought back on more than one occasion to make it through to his home competition after beating Zhou Yuelong 4-3.
Even after Jones pulled the game level after going two frames down, the Chinese player executed a stunning break of 117 in the fifth to retake the lead, before Jones found some consistency to edge the contest.
Si Jiahui booked his place in the next round with a 4-3 win over Nigel Bond, while Lukas Kleckers held off a dogged fightback from Michael Georgiou to win by the same scoreline.
Cao Yupeng saved his best form for a crucial moment in his tie with Fan Zhengyi.
The match ebbed and flowed throughout, with the pair taking alternating frames to enter the final frame at 3-3. This is where Yupeng rose to the challenge in devastating fashion with a break of 88, giving Zhengyi no chance to fight back.
Allan Taylor came from a frame down to beat Jamie O'Neill 4-1, while Gary Wilson knocked out Peter Lines in a 4-3 victory.
Michael Holt will be gutted to have missed out on a century break to finish in style against Martin O'Donnell, but, even so, his break of 99 in the fifth frame was enough to seal a 4-1 win to progress.
The main draw for the Welsh Open runs between February 28 and March 5 at Celtic Manor.
