BREAK! – NADAL 3-5 FRITZ
Wow, what a turnaround. Fritz is luring errors for fun out of the 22-time Grand Slam champion and clocks up two more break points. Nadal can’t handle the heat and double faults. Fritz will now serve for a set where the No.2 seed had looked in complete charge.
NADAL 3-4 FRITZ
Nadal is doing most of the attacking but not really getting the reward. He unloads a forehand on the run to press at 15-30 and can sense break points in the next rally but a clunky backhand strike from Fritz somehow drops on the line and forces an error. Rafa sizzles another forehand winner to earn the break chance but loses his feel from there as Fritz rather easily holds from deuce.
The American has had a tough afternoon so far but the most important thing is that he is ahead on the board and he is growing in confidence.
KYRGIOS 1-3 GARIN
A pair of aces help Nick get on the board to 30 but Garin responds with a similar hold to maintain his advantage.

BREAK! – NADAL 3-3 FRITZ
Nadal has done all of the pressing – but Taylor has hung in there and is right back in this set!
The Spaniard overcooks a forehand and then gets too defensive with backhand slices from the baseline. Fritz steps in an corks a brutal forehand to snare three break points. Rafa digs in and saves all three with some clutch serving and a beast of a backhand up the line. The No.2 seed looks in control but then blasts a forehand wide with the American firmly on the back foot.
This time Nadal can’t escape and Fritz moves in on a tough volley to break at the fourth time of asking with a simple pass.
KYRGIOS 0-2 GARIN

BREAK! – KYRGIOS 0-1 GARIN
Well, that’s rather interesting. Kyrgios is a serving machine and a clear favourite in this match so obviously Garin steps on to Court One and immediately breaks him to love!
NADAL 3-2 FRITZ
Nadal’s aggression on the return has been quite some sight so far. Fritz has to hit clutch mode on serve to battle back from 0-30 and then gets a big slice of fortune via a net cord to avoid some more heat at deuce.
NADAL 3-1 FRITZ
The evolution of Nadal’s serve over the years is quite something. It was once a clear chink in the armour, now it can be a potent weapon. It does the heavy-lifting here, allowing him to enjoy the gasps of delight from the crowd as he despatches a venomous backhand before concluding a game to 15 with another clinical smash.
NADAL 2-1 FRITZ
Nadal lets up following that barnstorming start with a couple of loose returns. It gives Fritz the opportunity to settle and find his rhythm, lashing an ace down the T to get on the board to 15.
NADAL 2-0 FRITZ
This is an excellent opening from Rafa. He clouts down an ace and a couple of juicy serves to consolidate with a convincing game to 15.

BREAK! – NADAL 1-0 FRITZ
What a start from Nadal! He has his eye in right from the off as he sizzles a trademark forehand up the line.
He handles the power of Fritz’s huge serve well and cranks up the early pressure with a loopy forehand that clips the baseline. Fritz is tucked in his backhand corner and coughs up the break point with a ragged forehand into the net. Nadal continues to attack and finishes the game off with an emphatic smash.

RYBAKINA SERVES FOR THE MATCH… BUT ON WE GO!
It was pretty much one-way traffic following that first set as Rybakina tore through Tomljanovic’s game at will.
However, the No.17 seed still showed real nerves despite a 5-1 lead in the decider. She saved three break points to reach deuce but then undid her good work by hitting loosely on the fourth. It’s 5-2 and Ajla has a lifeline of sorts…
