An amazing net cord that pops off the tape TWICE is a huge break for the Bulgarian and he gets out of a pickle with an ace.

NADAL 6-3 5-7 1-1 DIMITROV: Rafa with a better length on his shots at the moment, hurrying Dimitrov into errors. He holds to love and battle is rejoined.

NADAL 6-3 5-7 0-1 DIMITROV: A change of clothes and possibly change of trainers for Nadal but it’s Dimitrov who’s looking mighty fresh, hitting two more outright winners en route to a love hold. The Bulgarian looks on top. Eight points in a row!

NADAL 6-3 5-7 DIMITROV: SET! Dimitrov forcing Nadal to play great tennis to stay in games at the moment and he cuts off a superb volley to earn two more set points. This time the Bulgarian won’t be denied as Nadal hits long. We have a match on our hands!

NADAL 6-3 5-6 DIMITROV: Things getting really tight now towards the end of this second set. Dimitrov comes through a little wobble to hold to 30 with two big serves. Nadal must hold to take this to a breaker.

NADAL 6-3 5-5 DIMITROV: NADAL SAVES FOUR SET POINTS! Dimitrov mixing it up nicely with big forehands and low slices to keep Nadal guessing and a stunning ripped backhand up the line earns a first set point. Nadal saves the first with a stunning winner when seemingly out of the point and a second after Dimitrov frames a backhand wide. The Bulgarian wins the rally of the match, an 18-shot slugfest to gain a third set point. Big serving from Nadal saves the day again and he comes through a huge game to hold.

NADAL 6-3 4-5 DIMITROV: BREAK! Nadal is nothing if not resilient and never gives up on anything. Dimitrov badly mishits a couple of backhands to concede a couple of break back points and then nets a forehand as the Spaniard breaks back again. Who wants this set then?

NADAL 6-3 3-5 DIMITROV: BREAK! Nadal appears to be cruising at 40-15 but three uncharacteristic forehand errors hand Dimitrov another break point and a double fault hands the initiative back again. Amazingly, Dimitrov will serve for the set.

NADAL 6-3 3-4 DIMITROV: BREAK! Dimitrov must be feeling the pressure as he opens with a first double fault but allays those fears with a crunching inside-out forehand winner and another into the deuce corner. Really going for his shots, the Bulgarian nets in going for the hat-trick of outright winners but is then in trouble as a Nadal backhand catches the line to earn break point. He saves the first but Nadal gets back on terms as Dimitrov folds with a double fault.

NADAL 6-3 2-4 DIMITROV: Rafa comes through his minor crisis to stop the bleeding with a hold to 15. But he must still find a way to break.
