NADAL 6-3 1-4 DIMITROV: Now it’s Rafa firing himself up as he wins another great rally before forcing Dimitrov to go for too much on a backhand. But Dimitrov is playing better and starting to believe in himself as he fires an ace up the tee before consolidating the break with a cry of ‘come on!’

NADAL 6-3 1-3 DIMITROV: GAME ON? Dimitrov opens with a lovely backhand winner up the line and backs it up with a forehand deep into the corner that Nadal can’t scramble back. Nadal is irritated at receiving his customary time violation and it gives Dimitrov the encouragement he needs to force three break points. And he breaks to love as Nadal hits a forehand wide.

NADAL 6-3 1-2 DIMITROV: Dimitrov raising his game and keeping Nadal honest early in this set. Urging himself on, the Bulgarian races to 40-0 and holds despite allowing Rafa back into the game.

NADAL 6-3 1-1 DIMITROV: An unbelievable point as Dimitrov somehow stays in a rally, scampering this way and that to retrieve huge Nadal groundies with squash-like shots. All of his efforts are for nothing, however, as Nadal holds despite a first double fault.

NADAL 6-3 0-1 DIMITROV: The Dimitrov fans are still bouncing and chanting his name and the Bulgarian pumps his fist after hitting a forehand winner to move ahead in the game before following up with another of the same. Nadal nets a return and Grigor is off and running in the set.

NADAL 6-3 DIMITROV: SET! Another huge forehand deep into the deuce corner gains Nadal parity at 15-15 and he follows with a big serve that Dimitrov pushes wide. Another return flies long to give Rafa two set points and he cuts off a volley at the net to get it done.

NADAL 5-3 DIMITROV: Dimitrov begins with an ace up the tee before Rafa hits a backhand just wide. A beautiful backhand winner up the line gives Dimitrov three game points before he inexplicably misses a backhand volley into the open court. It matters not as he holds to 15.

NADAL 5-2 DIMITROV: The great Rod Laver watches on as Nadal refuses to give Dimitrov a glimmer on his own serve, rounding out a comfortable love hold as the Bulgarian hits long. He will have to serve to stay in the set.

NADAL 4-2 DIMITROV: Better from Dimitrov as he opens with three huge forehand winners to race to 40-0. He nets a tricky sliced backhand but rips a backhand winner to stay in touch.

NADAL 4-1 DIMITROV: Danger signs already for Dimitrol as Nadal consolidates the break of serve with a quick hold to love. Has this set already gone?

NADAL 3-1 DIMITROV: BREAK! First signs of frailty? Dimitrov wins the opening point but bets before Rafa flattens out a cracking backhand winner. The Bulgarian then nets a forehand to go concede two break points. He saves the first with an ace but Nadal gets it done with a forehand up the line that beats the advancing Dimitrov.

NADAL 2-1 DIMITROV: As with the opening Rafa service game, Dimitrov with a little ‘come on!’ after winning the opening point. But Nadal works the ball onto that lethal forehand to move ahead in the game and closes it out with an incredible, inside-out forehand winner.
